Over the years that I've been here we've been able to talk about everything under the sun. We've talked about cars, projects, life, news, media, and even politics. As of late it seems there's almost a crackdown going on. I'am not posting this to insite a fcbo riot. I'am not posting this to cause trouble. I'am posting this stating a fact that if there are rules on what we can, and cannot talk about we'd all appreciate being able to know them. What has made this forum grow, and kept members is the ability to discuss things that are going on in each others lives. Where does it start, and where does it end? We were told no politics. Ok. We've been trying very hard to keep political topics out. Take the Baltimore thread for instance there were things said that were addressed. The thread also took a joking turn, and boom it was gone. Joey, Bryan, ect I'am asking this for myself. Not on anyone else's behalf. I understand this is a car forum. I for 1 have liked it being a 1 stop shop. I'am sorry if this causes any trouble. I'am just asking an honest question.

It happens everywhere. As a site becomes more popular it attracts a more diverse crowd. As there's more people with widening views there's more people to get offended. So to keep from having to play baby-sitter or being bogged down in completing hurt feeling reports, most owners/admins institute some sort of speech modification policies. It's bound to happen.

It's an entertaining balance.
Anything other than that, then we are Moparts.
If it has to be moderated to maintain that balance, so be it.

Every topic that's posted can turn political given a few statements by one or a few. Take piss for example. People will say it's dirty and don't do it, others will say do it in the lake as there's a drought on to help fill it up. Then the fish huggers will complain and it mushrooms from there. If in doubt on a subject, don't ask.

If you want to make a stink about "censorship" then go ahead. If your too dumb to recognize that racist comments are unacceptable and something I wont tolerate things, then I cant help you. That thread started off ok, then someone made a racist comment, which we deleted. Then someone else made a few more racist comments, and the thread is gone. Gee, I wonder why...

If there is any racist comment: It needs to be deleted.

But "common sense" is something different for everyone. One guy thinks it is common sense, others do not.

Since the thread that political discussions are not allowed here (anymore) a lot of members stepped back and don't follow the board as much as it used to be. Honestly even I am here way less than I used to be.
While I understand Joeys position it took out some of the salt in the soup as we say in germany

And with the first racist comment, I left the thread and just deleted the post. Then several more popped up... THAT's why the thread was deleted. Its pretty simple and to me at least, not unreasonable.

I'am asking this for myself. Not on anyone else's behalf.

Fact: Political and Religious threads always cause problems. We can all have fun disagreeing whether Tom Brady's wife is too skinny or not. We can all have fun disagreeing whether a dog or a cat is a better pet. We can all have fun disagreeing whether the cold back east or the heat out west is better but disagreeing on religion and politics never winds up being fun. Not just on this site but anywhere. Just my observation.

I also don't see a problem with smart *** remarks sometimes made at the expense of certain groups no matter who they may be. But what I draw the line at is any comment that can be construed hateful or demeaning to any person or group. I used to watch Don Rickles do his thing and he could be so venomous but he always qualified what he did with some words of care and consideration.
