We have been fortunate in that this site seems to be attended by a more mature group of folks that have a way of self policeing themselves. Most will either comment, or move on if they don't agree with something.

IMHO, Politics is thin ice anywhere, same as religion. Either has a place on this site unless it directly impacts our cars.

Fact: Political and Religious threads always cause problems. We can all have fun disagreeing whether Tom Brady's wife is too skinny or not. We can all have fun disagreeing whether a dog or a cat is a better pet. We can all have fun disagreeing whether the cold back east or the heat out west is better but disagreeing on religion and politics never winds up being fun. Not just on this site but anywhere. Just my observation.

Over on my Ford Truck forum, with just over 600,000 registered users, religious and political threads are prohibited. This is a truck forum with some pretty conservative guys when compared to this board. So guess what? In the 8 years I have been on the board not one of those threads has ever popped up in the General Discussion forum.

Now in my World Affairs Board it is all about political discussion, military discussion, religious discussion, foreign policy discussion and so forth. No racist comments allowed since there are members from all over the world. Second, one is to express their point of view as though they were on a debate team in a calm manner while presenting your facts and you better have the facts. No personal attacks. No ad hominem attacks. Do so and you are quickly banned from the site by the head guy once he hears in from the world wide moderators. Only 14,000 members but easily more than that on line reading the huge variety of threads.

I agree with Will. Unless our cars want to convert their religion to Muslim or something, I think we should stick to C´s and fun...
