What's your opinion about keeping your c-body 100 percent original?

Thats all well and good but At some point you have to look at what you want before you get started. We all have an obligation to keep a nice all original car all original. If you want to hot rod, modify, or change things to be your way find a car that needs work, they're out there. Not many originals left.

Obligation? Are you kidding me? We all have an obligation to do what we think is right. Who am I to tell you what is right or wrong? You are a big boy and can do what you like. My moral obligation is to do WHAT I WANT with this car. Whether it be keeping it original, doing some day two mods, or dropping in a 4 speed.

This is what I dislike about some car guys. They treat their personal beliefs as the ONLY religion and try to force feed it to everyone else.

Obligation, Yes, obligation its for the passion of the car and since you dont feel there is an obligation then you must not have the passion.

Your car this, my car that, yeah, yeah we get it, its your car, goody.

Many fellows refer to themselves as "keeper" or "caretaker" of their car and that is because they have a passion for their car and keeping it original for future generations to enjoy and admire once it has changed hands down the line. Go ahead, modify all of them, then whats left? Whats the point of modifying a 40 or 50 year old all original car when many are out there waiting to be done the way you want them done? And while were at it the same could be said about you with the force feeding and religion. Now what?

:yes_no:

All I said was to each their own. You want to keep it stock. Great for you. Your car looks tremendous and I congatulate you on your hard work. I am not going to step on another guys ego because he didn't build a car the way I would have. We all are individuals and our cars usually reflect that.

I respectfully would like to point out That wasn't all you said....:elmer:

And thank you, but the two cars you see that are mine are original cars.

My original post before you told everyone we have an obligation to keep them original was "to each their own. do it how you like it". My follow up post was re-inforcing that. I will not rag on you for having two original cars. I won't rag anybody for modifying their car. It is our personal choice. It is not your place tell anyone what their obligation is.

Good for you on having two all original C-bodies. The orange one is beautiful.

Any more discussion is pointless.

What is your opinion?

Is what the original poster asked, which is what I answered with, read the title of the thread.

.............."It is not your place tell anyone what their obligation is."

Nor is it your place to tell me what my opinion should be but thank you for telling me anyway...and also declaring the discussion to be over with, again with the force feeding.:icon_salut:

I never once told anybody what their opinion or obligation should be, just to have their own opinions and obligations and that I have no right to tell you yours. I did tell you it isn't your place to tell anyone what their obligations are. If you can't handle that, I am sorry for you.

You did however tell us what everyone's obligation is and then told me I lack the passion...

And then you tell a guy to drop a 6.4l hemi in his car! lol

360 Crate engine in the Demon, and 6.4 Hemi 6 speed stick in the Coronet............Done!

Should we only have the passion for c-bodies?

That Cip Foose guy must lack the passion. Modifying those cars like he does. Shame on him for making rolling works of art. ;)

"Whats your opinion about keeping your c-body 100% original? Is the title of this thread. You clearly have a problem with my opinion or just don't understand what I clearly stated. So I'll try and be as simplistic as possible, let me ask you a simple question "would you take the car in photo one or the car in photo two to make it look like the car in photo three?"

All three are probably somebody's pride and joy. the first has a lot of potential, I would like to see it back on the road, and the owner likely has big plans for it. The second looks great, and I like to look at it, and the owner put a lot of time and money into restoring it. The third looks like a lot of fun, I would like to ride in it and hear it run, and the owner put a lot of time and money getting it to run down the track like a scalded assed ape.

What I am not going to do is tell the owner of the first or second car he has an obligation not to make it look like the the third. That is their choice. If you don't like the third that is fine too, but you shouldn't be rude and tell the guy it looks like crap and he should have done it/left it stock. That car is a great platform for hotrodding.

Well you've eluded the question, and you keep telling me what I can and can't say and I should keep my opinion to myself of which it was asked and why this thread was started.

So I suppose if all three were used in a derby you'd be fine with that too.

Stan had the following to say and you disagree or agree?

"The most important issue, regardless of what you as a Mopar enthusiast will do to it, is keep the car from getting into the hands of the ghetto donkers who will stuff it with hydraulics, some 24" bling rims, a McDonalds theme paint job and a leopard interior."

All three in a derby? That is childish.

I did not elude the question. I answered it. I never said you could not have an opinion, just don't be rude and don't tell everybody they have an obligation to keep it original. Quoting my opinion and telling me I am wrong and have an obligation to do what you think is correct is forcing it on me.

Stan didn't quote me and tell me what my opinion should be. His opinion was stated. That guy in the "ghetto" is probably very proud of his car, like we are of ours, and his peers likely agree with him. He probably looks at a stock car and thinks it would look great with 24" rims, some color and hydraulics. I won't tell him he is wrong regardless of my personal preference out of respect.

Any other questions?

What are you talking about? I went back and looked for something "rude" in this whole thread and couldn't find it. I did however find a lot of whining in your commentary but that's just my opinion. Oops was I rude? If your sensibilities are so delicate and you were so offended by an opinion here's a website you may enjoy more than this one...

It was all hypothetical, as in if the guy with the restored Demon decided to alter it for drag because drag racing old cars is his passion, polara 71 shouldn't be rude and tell him his car looks like crap now because it is not original.

Thanks for the link, hopefully you looked aroound a bit and learned something during your visit.

I never told anyone their car looked like crap, that would be your assumption.

The question was about opinions and you keep telling me what I should and shouldn't say. Why is your opinion about what I can and can not say allowed but my opinion on weather a car should be kept 100% original is not allowed, especially since it was asked for?

My opinion is clear.....................like it or not, it was asked for and I gave it, deal with it....
.

because your opinion was asked for and you gave it, then you quoted my opinion and told me I was wrong.

:shruggy: I don't see the word wrong, but even if I did thats my opinion and I stick to it, If I hurt your feelings :shruggy:

I must have a different concept of morality than you. I'll hold the door, say please & thank you and volunteer time but no way am I willing to cut up a survivor or nice all original car, thats a line I don't want to cross. To me thats the moral thing to do.

Demon #2 is off limits to make Demon #3 and I can't imagine anyone thinking thats o.k. :violent-smiley-100:
