When was the last production day for C-Bodies?

71 ny man's parts car is the last known
I don't think so. Seems like there were many vagaries at play during the final days of production- supplies, orders, etc. The variances of VINs , MDHs, and now contradictory Broadcast dates seems to indicate that the factory was "juggling" to complete the final cars. Only way we will ever know which was the last will be someone stepping forward and saying "yep- this is the ONE. Heres the VIN"

So based on the MDH, 71 ny man's parts car is the last known car produced that we know of

Going by the MDH 061610 alone, it's not the last known car, as three cars in the list beat it. Even the Broadcast Sheet Print Date 06200927 is beaten by two MDHs in the list.

But at this point, it would be better to examine more broadcast sheets. So, anyone with such a sheet for one of the cars in the list could do this thread a great favor.

Should we all chip in to hire a private detective to find these two men?

It would already be great to find out where this picture appeared in print, hoping for some accompanying text.

It would seem the sticker on the door was a "tentative" MDH and the actual is the broadcast sheet printed by computer as it rolled down the line, whereas the door sticker was printed ahead of time.

Therefore, the car with the door sticker MDH of 062013 could have a broadcast (actual build mdh) a lot later up to 4 days later.

As in "Raiders of the Lost Arc" We're "digging in the wrong place!"

So the MDH becomes a tentative date, just like the SPD?

Again, it will take more broadcast sheets to solve this one.

Update because of this car:

Mini update as I now have the MDH for Benoy's car. It is also being advertised on Ebay by Orlando Classic Cars. As for pricing, they seem to take their lead from 183615.

I find it interesting that none of dates for the possible last one falls on a Friday.

For May 1978 I have seen 6 fender tags with 5 different SPDs, coming from two separate weeks (501, 503, 503, 502; 517, 515). That looks like a healthy random result.

The above June 1978 SPDs show a rather different distribution:
12 fender tags with only 4 different SPDs, each in a separate week.

Whatever the SPD stands for at this point in Chrysler history, to my mind here it refers to a week rather than a day.

you will find that SPDs on either end of the production year look different than the rest of the year. Run a correlation on the VIN ranges allocated to SPDs. You’ll probably find a much higher average on either end. Meaning......fewer SPDs assigned and more VINs per SPD as production ramped up and down.

Although I really wish it was, we know it's not mine. Mine is a dark color car with a light top and we're searching for a light color car with dark top. So far, the only one that fit's that description is the dove gray/black top car from Mass.

It's going to be a while before I can get to that sticker.

Don't anyone worry. Those boxes on the hood are all empty.

'nother '78 vin for you ... from facebook marketplace Willsboro, NY.

As a Facebook external I did a search for that marketplace and it even did return car ads, but not the one you posted about.

... I've found a few more signatures. One is under the passenger front door... but the coolest is the "Last wagon of 77" that was drawn into the factory undercoating (under the rear seat floor) right after it was applied at the factory.

Couldn't somebody do the same thing for the 1978 model year?

I'm sure they did, that's why I'm thinking the true last '78 has been scrapped/derbied long ago. That car would've had all kinds of "evidence" on it just like this [1977] T&C, if not even more, being the last C Body ever!

You're absolutely right! If it isn't demolished yet, the last NYB should be recognizable by inscriptions.

Well, It's time to end the suspense. I climbed over the junk and had enough room to open the door a bit and snap a photo.
