Where was this Mopar Brochure/Ad Photo shot?

Multiple people figured out the location being in Arcadia National Park but none got back with the specific location.

Arcadia National Park: The bridge is simply known as the Route 233 Bridge.

When I first posted this I saw it more a challenge to locate this specific bridge. When my initial search led me to Arcadia National Park I didn't know the history of the stone bridges. I found multiple pictures of this bridge but none of them led me to the location. By then I knew of the bunch of historic bridges and figured there must be a list. The first list I found was of the 16 historic bridges and carriage road system financed by John D. Rockefeller Jr.

In looking at each bridge none of them matched that bridge so I figured it must be a contemporary bridge built some time after. So I focused on the roads and looked for where two roads crossed, almost immediately found this one. Fortunately there was Street View to verify it. This bridge was but in 1952 when the road was realigned one last two bridges built, the other a near twin over a carriage road just north of this, some of the pictures I found early actually turned out to be this one.

The yellow dots are the 16 historic bridges and the green dots are the contemporary bridges.

Next up is one that I was thinking would be a dud but was surprised when the search led to a match.

The 1956 Sunbeam is in the UK, there is a clear Street View from this perspective.

On this one the name of the Castle is all that is needed.

indeed, still very clear view and accurate for a commercial illustration.from an era of "exaggerations'.

i think i have it.

never seen it in person but would like too. interesting history too.

If I am right, it took me under 1.646 minute. Correct?

I have never visited this part of the planet, but now that I have looked on google maps many times, I am starting to see a trend in the landscape over there.

Location This Evening.

Built around 1066. "destroyed" 1645

Road doesn't match the ad but I doubt it did then.

Yep, I was trying to "fly" around this joint with Google Maps and Earth to see if I could see any approach vector that would approximate the ad view.

I was not succesful (too many elevation variables and trees to get the view that looked best) and perhaps I even gave up to soon. any event, its a wonderful, historical location, stem to stern, coast to cost.

never been this far south/west of this country's "big city". its a smallish-country by US standards, but still quite large (bigger that about 40 individual US states_ .. meaning one would need a few weeks/few thousand $$ to do it.

Spent the equivalent of a month, over four years, in the big city alone and NEVER saw everything I wanted. anyway, maybe a retirement project when the day comes to go back.

This particular place would surely be on my list.:)

Corfe Castle, Wareham, UK

I'm not much of a history buff especially of this era but I did find the history of this castle interesting.
A little over 100 miles south west of London

For what its Worth lets see if I can point you in the right direction.

Very little has changed in this location right down to the Palm trees.

Just a little hint, it isn't in California but it is near the Beach.

What they heck. :) Short retirement

Stumbled on one. Knew it immediately because I have been there. Right on that spot I think.

vintage pics of women & cars (this thread of full of potential "games" as well.

Where is this circa mid-late 1950's Fiat 600?

1. The building in the background is world famous. Yes, still there. What is it?
2.
The speecific place where the car/models are posing is less well-known but of great historical significance too. Also, still there. What is it?
3.
Reproduce the current-day version of the vintage photo.

Digital search and navigationo skills/patience probably needed.

That's how you will get from "anywhere in the world" to the exact location if you don't recognize it on sight.

Answer this coming weekend.

right instincts Peter.

but joint in the game has similar features in, including ceiling art. different city though.

i too have been to your spot ... not big in the "pageantry" part of it, but the architecture of that place, its immediate surroundings -- heck the whole dang city -- is breathtaking.

stuff 15-20x older than any non-indigenous structures in this (USA) baby country. some standing, still in use, alongside ruins of spectacular engineering/architecture.

love that place.

:)

I am so jealous of you world travelers. Closest thing I got like that is my state capitol. Ugh!

I did my globetrotting for work. Those days are gone, but got me a few million FF miles and a wicked case of time zone sleep deprivation.:poke:

Saw a lot, but many times it was the "in/out" type around work stuff. Mad dashes from this or that cool place to the international airport. I wished I had time for more "touristy" stuff.

I still consider myself and kids very fortunate though.

:)

Choices. I grew up only traveling back to South Dakota to see my grandparents and relatives (which I truly endeared - now I live less than 3 miles from my great great grandfather’s homestead where my mother was born (in a blizzard in late May)).

After I graduated from college and started working, I traveled mostly for pleasure and some business (best business trips were to Italy and Hawaii. The rest were to bases, except for Savannah).

My point is that I chose to save and spend the $ to see other places. I have been able to meet distant relatives, see the places that they lived as well as some incredible places.

I haven’t seen the place that’s in this clue, but probably haven’t been far away from it.
