I do not like the adjustment-thing....I had bad experiences with Mercedes parts: when you adjust it to hard, the stearingbox will break down -> lot`s of wear in the middle position, then you adjust it, but the wear at the left and right side is not so heavy and when you turn to the right or left, it can stick or at least break the inner part.

You have nothing to lose if you try adjusting it. Just write down how much and what direction you tweaked the screw if you want to return it to where it was. It's not going to go left or right as long as you don't touch the valve body or anything but the screw. Do it in small steps.
That said... Are you sure it's the steering box? There's all sorts of issues that can seem like a worn steering box. Tie rods, idler arm etc. .. I don't know if there's a rubber coupler in a '67 steering column, but those fail.
Then there's just the feel of an old Chrysler with power steering. It's not a Mercedes... There's no road feel in them.

If I wasn’t sure why the steering feels out of whack, I’d move step by step:
1) tighten the box lock nut (until there is no play in the steering wheel)
2) check the rag joints above the box (does the steering wheel still move before the wheels turn? If so -> replace the rag joints - both of them)
3) check the idler arm bushing (dry/rotted -> replace)
4) check the LCA bushings (dry/rotted -> replace)
5) check your wheel alignment (you want 0’ camber and as much caster as you can get with 0 camber)
All this assuming that you have new tires, and they are properly inflated.
And the most important thing to remember, when you compare a Chrysler to a Mercedes: You drive the Chrysler only with your three middle fingers, holding the wheel at four o’clock, your arm resting on the arm rest. Point it where you want it to go, and it will do the rest. If you try to steer it like you steer a Merc, hands tightly at the wheel at 10 o’clock and 2 o’clock, you will tire yourself, for it will never go straight. It will be a nightmare.
