Purchase used 1965 Chrysler Imperial 2 Door Hardtop in Dresden, Tennessee, United States, for US $8,000.00

Why? And most mind bending of all. They shortened it then put a continental kit on it

Think this car was featured on some car TV show, Caffeine and Octane or something like that. Heard about it. You would not believe how much labor this guy and his technicians put into this project.
 
Just weird. The proportions are strange. The Imperial was all about luxury and not an alternative to a Corvette or Thunderbird.
 
Wow. I'm all for people for doing their thing...but who in their right mind says "Yeah, this is going to look good".

I could have dealt with it if he had turned it into a flower car

I’ve seen a few of these “shorty” cars show up at some local shows. To be honest the few I’ve seen had nicely done workmanship & drew a fair amount of onlookers. Fortunately it doesn’t look like a trend that’s catching on.
 
Obviously going for that "Early Bird look". For somebody looking to get noticed?

Possibly inspired by that shortened Imperial that was on the high-end show circuit a few years ago?
 
This is still a salvageable car, IMO...

1) Ditch the goofy-*** mudflaps, for starters!
2) The wheels are horrible on anything. This says "1993". I'd go with the K-H wire wheels that look great on Imperials. Skinny whitewalls.
3) The Continental kit looks good on maybe three cars out there. This screws the proportions up bigly!
4) Put the correct instrument cluster back in it. The gauges don't even match!
5) Those skirts really do zip for this, plus they make the rear half of the car even that much more out of proportion. In the trash they go!

But, there are a few things that look good on this...

1) Color. Perfect for this, IMO, and just looks nice.
2) It appears they took a four-door and cut that, yet took the quarter windows from a coupe for the doors.
3) Gotta admit, that top looks good in the pics. That requires talent to pull that off, NOT a stick welder and a case of Keystones.

This appears to be a car that was for sale in Enid, OK, two years ago. Same everything about the car. I almost went up to look at it, but 110 miles one-way and a few hours of my life were better-spent in other things.

The Imperial flower car was an Oklahoma offering, as well, in Chickasha. That sold for about $1,200 or so. The initial ask was $4K, IIRC. No idea where that went.

Shorty cars are fairly popular in the tri five chevy world. I have had one in mind for a while and hope to do one someday. I have a couple of cars in mind for the donor. No chrysler products really. I have not seen one that has the lines for it. I want to make it a convertible step over. No doors.

That imperial is about as long as it is wide.
 
I sure hope this car was trashed before the person did this.

I agree with Patrick66 about the dash - yuck!! What's with the shifter through the floor? I don't see a clutch.

Reminds me of the shortened Sevilles of the late '70s.
