Hi, I know that I'm new here. But have a question. I'm picking this 72 new yorker up next Sunday. I didn't put any money down on it. But I'm having 2nd thoughts about it. I'm currently restoring my 72 Newport. But I'd only need a couple of interior parts. And maybe the 440 that I don't if it even turns over. I needed trim pieces but it's completely different. He wants $800 firm. Do I pull the trigger and buy it, or do I back out?

Part it out, Make profit. BB, 727, 8 3/4, Possible Sure Grip. Disk Brakes? Perhaps.

I feel an obligation to complete a transaction I enter into, unless the terms or conditions change. That said, if you've stepped into it and found there is nothing you can use here... don't yank the seller's chain, let him know right away. Waiting only make his situation worse, if he is holding the car for you.

In my opinion there's meat on the bone at 800 bucks. You will double or better your money if you keep what you need and part the rest.

Ok, thanks for the replies everyone. I'll probably go get it. I know the body is shot. But I figured I can probably use some parts, like converting mine to having all the power options. And definitely the 440. I can leave my 400 in it since it runs great.

Ever watch American Pickers? If there's nothing of great value to you on this car, let it be and invest in something you really need. My father had the "maybe someday I'll need that." attitude and it took us six months and a host of dollars to clean out his "someday" stuff. I can only imagine what you could do to upgrade your present ride with $800

The New Yorkers are getting rare. Believ me! I've needed fenderz for about 5 yirz and just got the PS last month.

How much for the DS? (see? you alredy hav a customer!)

Oh I know about the some day I'll use this. My dad is the same way. He has 2 426 wedge motors just sitting in the garage, a couple 460 motors/trannys, and some other motors and transmissions. Not including all the other crappy lol

Jo753 I think the fender is junk. But I'll double check when I get it.

I would buy only what I needed, and use the extra cash toward quality parts for the Newport.

I've never lost money on a parts car/truck. Been surprised at how much I got back from them. Only downside for me now is space, as bluefury361 said. You can get what you need for your car, seek the rest and put that money back into your car for more goodies.

After all the replies to your query I can only assume there's about 5 guys on this forum who'll run right out and buy it if you don't. Soooo, I guess it's not a question of buying it, more to the point of who gets there first.
