Wrecking Yard With 1,000 apps Cars About To Be Crushed - LOTS of Fuselage Cars!

I doubt such a small sampling of VIN's and fender tags would prove or disprove how rare something is. More like mental masterbation to me, but, ok. we all have our quirks or we wouldn't be Mopar owners!

You asked. We answered. It's oK if you don't personally understand or care how collecting info works. That's not a requirement.

What matters is that data is saved and incorporated with other data in context that makes sense to people that do care. It's like a jig saw puzzle. One piece may not mean a lot but when you start putting all the pieces together, the total picture emerges.

One VIN or fender tag may mean learning when one SPD ends and another begins. One VIN or tag may fill in a run of Hursts or Superbirds or show a break in VIN assignments. One fender tag may uncover a C body 440 four speed with a/c. One VIN or tag may uncover a parade car previously unknown. There are numerous reasons a single VIN or tag could be important.

I don't want, need or care about a lot of things in life but I know that others do. I try to help them out when I can because I know it matters to them. Not all of us have access to this batch of cars but the data collected from them means something to others. We're just asking for help from the folks that can get the info.

The chrome is exceptional at this location.?????
It’s very cold there.
I would expect different.
Can someone explain why cold moist weather preserves chrome?
I did not see any ebodies. Did I miss some?
Parts sheds like those are where I want to look for the M46 scoops.

It appears that the cars do not deteriorate via rust in that location compared to most yard locations across the States.

The location of this hoard is getting pounded right now with an atmospheric river system.... more than 10" of rain over the weekend. Maybe some of the cars will be washed down off the mountain.

There are many vintage car registry's, Ferrari, Rolls Royce, Maserati, etc. many all done with a volunteer basis.
These registry's help document and preserve the <ahem> hobby(?) for enthusiasts and future enthusiasts plus also to keep the shysters at bay with the rebodied wreaked cars verse's pristine classics.

Get it?

I'm doing the same with the AMF era Harley-Davidson motorcycles to which some think is the new money making 'Gold Mine'. You'd be amazed with the high resolution camera images on the 'net in the for sale AD's and auction sites that you can cull and catalog VIN verified motorcycles just from the images that you couldn't do just over a decade ago. I found just one treasure trove of not just AMF era but all years Harleys of very high quality images that many have full pictures even of the titles. Sadly though in my digging research is I suspect this was a Japanese company buying up a massive amount of Harleys (or brokerage firm) for the Japan market.
I heard about this also in the early 2000's too.

I've also seen a lot of bogus VIN's too.

I saved this 61 Plymouth parts car from there.
It’s all in a state controlled conservator ship
VERY difficult to get a car out of there.
A state of California appointed car appraiser has to put a price on it.
Some cars are priced right and some are WAY overpriced………..
No bartering, full price or crusher.
There was supposed to be an auction, but I don’t think that is going to happen now.
NO parts for sale.
The terrain is exceptionally difficult to to get cars out.
If you put your name on a car it has to go to appraiser, then a lawyer, then a judge, then back to a lawyer, then finally a back to a real estate broker………….
Takes about 3 months…………
Crusher has arrived recently.
They always push hard for scrapping everything.
There was a 1000 cars there.
MANY classics. Too many….
I’m afraid they are just going to crush everything.
Why take $500-$1500 per car when you can split $300 per car with car crusher…………………
In the State of California that makes sense.
Lots of cars were saved by people I know, but in end there are just too many and the difficulty factor is too high.
I’m still trying to get a few FL cars from there, but I’m afraid now that the crusher is there it’s over..
Has anyone had contact with this situation? I'm interested to see if any cars were saved.

Geez. With all that nonsense it costs the state a lot more to "sell" a car than to just dispose of it. I'll bet the lawyers even collect a fee for the latter option too....

Love that old school bus behind the '67 Satellite. And the Satellite, too.

Anybody have an idea of the maker of the bus chassis?

I remember riding in an old REO bus, not unlike that one, back in the '60's.
The school district kept it as a backup bus for many years. I am assuming it was an early 1950's model. It was for sure recognisable as being from before the then current generation of busses. At that time, they were Mack chassis.

Edit: if anyone cares, the school bus appears to be built on a late 1940's White chassis.

I got three more cars out of there a couple weeks ago, probably 10-15 cars left that day with other people. I've gotten two 74 CHP Monaco's, a VW Jeep like thing, and a 79 Jeep J10 4x4 360 truck. Have a bunch more on my list to get prices but still waiting to get back. Think everybody is sick of the whole situation and think the crusher is coming soon, hope not but that is just the way it goes.

@71Polara383 1 69 CHP Polara is on my list, just waiting on a price to come get it.

This yard is WAY out in the woods, not near anything, on a steep mountain, lot of things making all this really hard.

They asked me to take down my Youtube video which was stupid because I sent a bunch of people up there to save stuff and they started posting more Facebook videos up there this week.
