So I'm driving down the road around the block from my shop in the convertible with the top and the windows down yesterday afternoon. See some people in blue shirts raising Hagerty banners on the street corner so I pull in to see what's up. They were at the corner of Edgland which is where the Woodward Garage (google it if curious) so I knew that's where I was headed. Sure enough more banners among other things are being set up and it looks like there's going to be an event. I inquired and was told it was a customer appreciation BBQ that evening and since I am a client was invited to come back for free food and beer. Who am I to pass on that! Here are some pics. Murray Pfaff was on hand with my favorite Imperial Roadster.

This was the epitome of multi-make!

Should be a late model year Sunbeam Alpine, think the V8 Tiger had dual exhausts. Personally like the Tiger more than the Cobra, also more affordable.

I loved these things when new. While everyone'was having an orgasm over the Cobras, I'm thinking "are these guys stupid. Buy a Sunbeam"! Did I? No. Should I? Yahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh....

There are just two English cars that I'd really like to own, the "bastardized" Tiger and the Mk 1 Lotus Cortina. This one's pretty high on my overall list. Don't expect anyone else as maybe Stan to understand this. :)

Unfortunately, neat cars like that Cortina never made it here.
Lancia of Italy had a few very weird buzz bombs running arounnd in the U.S. though. I had a perverted "like" for them. Anyone with a love for Lancias were Masochists.

I will dissent and say no way to the Imperial. What were they thinking? BTW Cortinas were actually on the roads here in Canada in the 70s.

I agree with Fratzog...that roadster is a travesty. Another person trying to make an Imperial "cool" by butchering it into something it never was meant to be. Imperials are cool without the Chip Foose buffoonery...too bad most people don't see that.

Just about every car he "customizes" has huge wheels on them.

That roadster was done in a backyard garage here in Royal Oak and literally started out as a four door. It is very well done and really looks great in my opinion.
