That is just beautiful! I LOVE IT!!! I wish I had an hour to take a 100 pictures of it. Probably not a better example anywhere. What do you think it's worth?

Look no further. I present to you the ultimate:

This looks to be the same car I ran across way back in 2002. It was in a garage in Lakeland Florida. The owner was a older retired military officer who loved big unusual cars and convertibles.

What took me there was a lead on a 1964 Chrysler 300 convertible, which had been parked in the same garage for 15 years, (I bought that 64 and used it as my daily driver for the next 3 years).

This 78 was parked there, covered in clear plastic. He had purchased several new Chryslers at a Lakeland dealership and had a good relationship with them. The 78 was unsold after the new 79 models were introduced and he made a offer, which was initially refused, to buy this car. They came to terms later and he took the car home and just parked it in the garage. The mileage on it then was close to this car and was put on by the dealership. I remember he telling me that there was a very minor flaw on the grille and the dealership included a NOS grille with the car although he never had it installed. His price at the time was $18K.
It was such a striking car wit the gray leather and black finish.

He was a friend of my sisters, (thats how I got the lead on the 64 300). She told me some time ago that he had passed away and I always wondered what became of his cars. (He also had a 75 Olds 88 convertible and a 79 Buick Riveria convertible, both with less then 2000 miles.)

Nice story Will. I would imagine the NOS grill probably is in the trunk. I love the color combo on that car. It would nice to follow what happens to this gem.

64 300

Here a shot of the 64 300 I bought in 02 from this fellow.
It's still around this area and I came close to buying it back.... Still might.
It was all original but needed a top and interior redo, which has been done since I sold it.

I think this car has no comparison to anything what NADA or any other books would say.
I think it would only hit 15k - 17k at Kissimmee next January.
$15k is at the very top end at best but I'm pretty sure that there isn't another one like it so.... maybe the scumbag in Lakeland will get it and sell it for 25....
I'd really, really like to be the guy that keeps it from getting into his hands.

I agree. I think it's worth $15k. I've only seen one other low mileage, perfect Formal NY'er and it wasn't for sale.

His asking price seems to be unrealistic.
NADA is a used car guide and pretty useless when it comes to collector cars.

The Collector Car market review, which seems to be more in touch with current market trends then most, places value of a #1 at $13,350.00....
I'd say add 25% for this original.

I don't get why these cars are so cheap.

How can the guy in FLA sell it for a profit then?

Even with only 6k miles, the chrome at the top of the ashtray rubs off on just about every NYB I've seen.
Of the hundreds and hundreds I have looked at, I've only seen one with the chrome intact.

Good thing I don't have my trailer with me. Right now I'm only 50 miles from this car.:head_smack::head_smack:

My cats refuse to use it. They say there's too much kitty **** on it.
