Vintage NASCAR

Yep he borrowed Ned Negree's Mirada for a few races. I believe this was the very first Dodge to use 4 corner coil springs. No T bars.
I heard a theory that the reason the Mirada was not more successful (tried out by Petty and rumor has it Jr. Johnson) is that the windshield (and the rest of that area) was too wide. This picture kinda shows that.

The Jr Johnson rumor is true. I really think both teams did this to trick GM into coughing up more money I really doubt either would have switched to Dodge as Dodge was not offering any money

Atlanta 1975

Richard Petty in the Charger & Bobby Allison in the Matador. Looks. Cars all bunched up so this likely was just after the green flag.

Neil vs Bobby

Neil Bonnet now driving the #71 Dodge. No longer sponsored by K & K insurance & would soon be sold to Kentucky businessman JD Stacy. Here Neil is racing his friend & mentor Bobby Allison in the AMC Matador

Nord Krauskapf was the owner of the #71 Dodges & the K & K insurance co. In the late 70's the cost of racing got too high & Nord sold the team to Kentucky coal mine owner JD Stacy. He changed the car # in 1978 to #5. Kept Bonnet as its driver. They had sucess as Bonnet won a pole & 2 races. However Stacy poorly managed the team & also stretched his finances WAY to thin & the team lasted only a couple of years. JD Stacy owed a lot of people money as he exited the sport only to return years later to make an even bigger mess. Here are a few pics of the Dodge Magnum Neil drove for the 78 season only. They switched to GM cars in 79 This was the last Dodge to win a NASCAR race Untill Sterling Marlin won Michigan in 2001. These pics where taken at North Wilkesboro Speedway in 1978
