WTH Petty in a 72 Monte ?

Yes a white 72 Monte Carlo with his #43 on it. Being told this was a race in Canada & big name drivers where paid appearance money. And most of the cars where cars that ran on a Canadian circuit. Share this pic with your friends or use it to win a bet & get you some beer money. You can thank me later

Richard vs Fred Lorenzen

1963 the Fords & the Pontiacs where a little better so for 64 the Hemi debuted. That put an end to Pontiacs winning & made the Ford boys go back to the drawing board

1968 Daytona

Richard Petty in the 68 Road Runner. His rival David Pearson right behind in the blue & gold Torino. Looks like LeRoy Yarborogh in the white Torino & Bobby Issac in the red Charger. Not sure on the gold Torino on the inside. Not ringing a bell. Maybe Fred Lorenzen?

1978 Daytona 500

Lap 60 Petty was leading in the Magnum. 3 car breakaway (Petty, Waltrip & Pearson) Petty blew a tire in turn 4. Collected all 3 cars. Bobby Allison a distant 4th also had damage, but repaired car under caution & went on to win.

Earl Brooks

His very last start. North Wilkesboro 1979. Borrowed Buddy Arringtons back up car. I believe car broke early & Earl hung up his Helment for the last time with a DNF

Didn't Donnie drive a red Torino for Ellington that year. I dont think its Lorenzen because i think he was in a Plymouth in 68. Andretti sounds good. I think they white Road Runner behide the gold Torino is Paul Goldsmith too. Ill look into it. Got my curiousity

More pics

I got 2 more pics of the above crash at Daytona. You can see Petty got into the inside wall hard.

Michigan 1977

Marty Robbins taking his Charger behind the wall followed by Dave Marcus in the Luguna. I believe this was during practice

Wisconsin's Dave Marcus

Drove his own Dodge in many speedway races & chebbies on small dirt tracks. It was popular for many small independent teams to run Hemis on the big tracks & 327 chebbies on the bull rings. Here are some pics of Dave's Dodges

Thank you. It took me a while to find out who was in that #1 car. At first I was told Parnelli Jones, but later found out Parnelli was in a Ford for this race. So glad you liked it Dave

My mother was originally from eastern Tenn. and I think I am related about half the population of those valleys around Bristol. I remember going past the track when you could see the surface from the road and still a asphalt oval. That is a cool track then and now.

Marcus in a Mirada

Yep he borrowed Ned Negree's Mirada for a few races. I believe this was the very first Dodge to use 4 corner coil springs. No T bars.
