OK I have the am/fm radio and a new 6X9 speaker. PO (previous owner) had taken it all out. So far I found in the parts pile the mounting brackets and the radio mounting strap and the nuts for it. He took out the grill-why I do not know. I see it has 4 screw that hold it in. what size are they? #8? #8-34? or a sheet metal screw? What are the screws that hold the speaker on? # 10's? I used 10's for the bracket to speaker screws (4 of them) but what are the 2 screws that hold the brackets to the dash pad? So far the hubby has made 4?5? trips to the local hardware store but not much is fitting. Thanks!

I'll assume, since you refer to a 6x9 dash speaker, that you're referring to a 65 Chrysler of some description. All that follows is from memory, so I may be incorrect.

The speaker grille has threaded pegs that are part of the grille, and uses standard speed nuts, of which size I am not sure.

The speaker itself is held into the dash by two "ears" type brackets that go on each end of the speaker. I believe they use small sheet metal screws - flat surface, domed top. Size, I am not sure.

Sorry but I am not getting the notice from C bodies for when a response is given so I check in every few days.. Yes i know about the "ears", already mounted to the speaker but have to hold off until the speaker grill is mounted. Yes it is a Chrysler New Yorker (Post January build) but my grill has 4 tabs that a screw goes through. Screws go horizontal, not vertical.
