I have been thinking about this for months since being scammed by an online seller.
After talking to the guy on the phone he was certainly well versed in the specifics of these cars. I purchased some parts with the understanding that he would ship out the same week.

Well we are working on a year at this point and the guy has promised to ship next week many times. I wanted the parts more than the money, so I hung in there. I finally started asking for the parts or the money.

Its going nowhere. Just excuses yet the guy does not block me and continues to engage in conversation.

Several months back I started searching and found a couple people that knew him and confirmed that's his MO. It seems that if you are standing in his presence and he is holding the parts you can buy parts. But if you pay up front expecting him to deliver, he does not deliver and gives the same excuse to everyone. Atleast one buyer had to use their purchasing insurance for a reimbursement.

So that brings me to the question.
Would the site allow a bad guy list?

Why should there be several people getting burned from the same guy when these people are associated in some way?

In thread banter there has been a few names that have a well known reputation for not coming through on a deal. But why not establish a list format as a reference?

Should someone find themselves on it and disagrees. They can post there perspective or rectify the issue.

I sure would appreciate knowing who this guy is!

I'm thinking that a Bad Guy List would create a liability issue for FCBO.

No reason the info could not be shared via Private Conversation or Email tho.

Kevin
I believe the forum owners will be silent on this matter, specifically because of liability. However, they also would likely look the other way if someone had been maintaining a list and could share it in private messages.

We do have the feedback score that shows up in any posts in the "for sale sections" and PMs. The problem is a lot of guys don't bother with it.

Listing bad sellers sounds good, but there's bad buyers too. I've seen many times where guys start bitching for no reason. Let's face it, there's people out there that would complain if they were hung with a new rope.

I think a lot of times, buyers ignore the warning signs of a bad deal. I'm not saying this is the case here at all, but some are pretty naive.

No list or specific thread about it. Forum members have posted information of sales and purchases gone bad. We monitor those pretty closely especially if it's between members. There is always 2 sides to every story and mudslinging is not a positive thing between members regardless who is at fault. Often times the issues is resolved behind the scenes.

Is there a member here who is local to your seller that can go get the parts for you?

I have thought about that but then im making my problem somebody else's problem. Not really the goal, infact, the opposite.

This was not necessarily a member, other than I believe he has a profile but has only commented a couple times.

I did not find him here originally, but have since searched the internet for his name and found some people with the same experience.

There are a multitude of businesses with terrible reputations including one 25 miles from my house. To which I may offer a service when I retire of checking in on orders weekly... everybody knows who they are..

Well im hoping to get to the stage where I can complain about the parts delivered...

This is the first individual I have known with inherent knowledge of a niche of vehicles that burns people. The C body scene is a pretty skinny sliver of the pie and that is his specialty.

Did you send him a pm and tell him that you were going to go public with the experience?

So he's not a member?

I do not know. I found an old profile that I speculated might be him. Very few posts.
I'm certain anyone specializing in such a thing atleast watches the site.

I know there are some people on the sight that know this character. Atleast one has told me as much.

We don't hesitate to recommend people with sound reputation. This is the same thing. Recommendation based on experience.

Some of the usual characters such as the one in my neck of the woods that has a renoun reputation for taking your money then taking multiple years to provide interior goods. To the point that it's part of the experience or your own fault if you didn't know about their horrible service.

Regardless if it's a fit or not I would recommend posting in inquiry for pm's before paying an unknown..

Reminds me of body shop jail stories. With the difference being if this clown has the parts he says he has, all he needs to do is ship them. A couple hours work at most.

Mopar guys were my favorite 25 years ago.
Being the geeks they are and establishing the now recognized standard across brands for capturing the minutiae in restoration work.

Many of them insisted you had to get THE GUY to paint your mopar muscle car. 2 year waiting list to get in and 2 years to get the work done.

They thought the experience was an opportunity for the elite..

Like Chrysler put a bunch of work into the yellow paint on your 69 Roadrunner...
Literal amateur quality..

A guy that was much older, smarter and richer than me was telling me about his 20k paint job he was waiting for.. I asked how much are the materials? He said, 5 grand!

To that I responded, so this guy is working 24 months for 15 grand before taxes?
$7500 a year gross?..

The guy got that deer in the head lights look and tried to make it make sense.. I said yea man he ain't working on your car. He takes half the money and sands the paint off then busts it out 2 years later when he is out of time and space and wants the final payment.

Im not looking for an elite experience. Just some parts for my car.

This sounds an awful lot like similar dealings with Martin Lackner.. Now if it is him you fellers are in the same state.. Dude has more stories than a fairy tale book. GL.
