I have a '71 Imperial. Just installed the rebuilt and detailed engine. I'm trying to install the stock 727 transmission cooler lines. I can lift the engine off the subframe engine mounts but still find issues feeding the lines over the center steering link and around the oil pan and over the cross member. Not a lot of room.

Any tips for doing this? I think I'll have to remove the center link to have any chance.

The mild steel ones are pretty flexible, stainless not so much. Steel lines, just wrap those in something (so as not so scratch new paint) and pull them through. As long as you don't kink them you can bend to fit once in place. I struggled with stainless on fitment and then the fittings would forever leak - went back to steel.

Follow up.

With the engine lifted off the mounts about 2 inches, I was able to install lines dropping only the idler arm connection to the center link (pittman probably would have provided more clearance). I slid the line connecting to the rear transmission fitting from the rear and the line connecting to the front fitting from the front. All done.

I noticed that my pittman arm rubber boot has a hole and will need replacement. Hope there is a source for this.

Try the Dorman help section at your local auto parts store - I bought a 5/8" hole size boot that fit the pitman on my '68 perfectly.
