Since the 383 was pulled by the guy I got the car from, and the 383 I have needs rebuilt, the Y pipe wasn't going to work with the temporary 318. The tailpipe was pretty crusty, and almost broke off upon removal. Still had good factory hangers, but the pipe itself not so much.

Got the exhaust done Monday night. Ran 2 1/4 back to a pair of glass packs under the rear seat, then 2 inch tailpipes straight out the back. Can you say cackle? My daughter, age six, was deeply disappointed because the car is now "too quiet". I am convinced that she's a redneck motorhead. Thank...

One trick I have used to ID B vs RB engines in yards is the width of the intake at the "points". Frequently the A/C compressor is in the way of seeing the pad on the RBs, but a quick measurement between the rear points of the intake will tell you which family, B or RB. I just wish I could...

And with the larger chambers, they are an excellent way to drop the compression ratio from the 9.25 you have down to about 8.4. And just think of the great 7.5 to 1 blower motor one could build if these were installed on a 71 up 8.4 to 1 318...... No thanks. I would rather port 318 heads.
