My New (to Me) 73 Imperial LeBaron

HL2 is correct. That color is designed to match the color of your interior. I remember a thread where someone showed how that looks, after taking out the interior door panel foremother reason and using the opportunity to document the feature. @CBODY67 @saforwardlook

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

Not at this point. If this doesn't cure it, I'll look into pinion angle and probably take the driveshaft over to a local driveshaft shop. I'm running out of driving time though... Winter is coming and I need to get a few things done before it gets too cold.

    WANTED Road Wheels - anyone?

Thanks for the heads up on the mailbox. I’ve been trying to delete the messages and haven’t been able to. I’ve selected the boxes and trashed them. It then shows “no messages”, but when I try to send you a message it tells me the mailbox is full. Not sure what I’m doing wrong.

    Brake issue. Master cylinder?

Probably, but pull the back drums and look at the wheel cylinders, rubber lines etc. I think the fluid is leaking past the seals and filling the rear, but I can't say I've ever seen that happen. Nope... There is no proportioning valve in a drum brake car. People like to call the distribution...

Keep us posted! Are you going to follow-up at all on the out of phase issue? It seems worthwhile since you've got the drive shaft out of the car.

    61 carpet in a 62 ?

I have a 62. I know the hump is smaller in the 62 then the 61 do to the transmission change. Problem is that you can't find molded carpet for a 62, only the 61. 62's are all sewn. So has anyone ever attempted to put 61 carpet in a 62 and can say how it fits?

    Windshield wiper switch operation

Well after many night and much frustration I got them to work properly. The whole problem was a grounding issue, but not where you might thing. I took the switch apart multiple times cleaning the contacts inside, one of the metal tabs that bends over to hold the switch together clamps onto a...

NOT MINE No Reserve 1978 Chrysler New Yorker Brougham Coupe 440 on BAT

Did not anyone notice the extreme orange peel which is more than it should be even in 1978. This particular area is bad while other areas looked much better.

    Driveline noise/drone/vibration

I think the tail shaft bearing is OK. I inserted the yoke and it seems to have a decent fit. Almost all of that sticks out of the trans with the short seal. I'm going to put a proper seal in it while it's apart and I'll polish up the yoke. NAPA had the front U-joints in stock and the rear...

440 engine making a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak, but no leak is found

Oh, also of note, it doesn't smoke either. Also, could a diluted oil cause these symptoms? I believe the oil is diluted with gas (this happened before trying to work the bugs out of the efi system).

440 engine making a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak, but no leak is found

I actually do have a small cam and looked into the cylinder, but didn't see anything crazy. Piston did appear to have 2 bevels or something along the front edge of the piston (towards front of engine) But they seemed more like they were made that way vs damage. I'm not sure what stock 440...

440 engine making a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak, but no leak is found

Might need to get a "Critter Cam" or borescope attachment for your smartphone to look inside the cyl itself. Via the spark plug hole. If the compression is going into the crankcase, the amount of "blow-by" should be much greater. Remove the pcv valve and also the breather on the rh valve...

440 engine making a noise that sounds like an exhaust leak, but no leak is found

as a test I repeated my cylinder pressurizing test on #2 cylinder. The air escape was almost inaudible. So #4 is definitely dropping pressure really quickly. I just can't tell from where, not intake, not exhaust, not radiator and not crankcase (that I'm able to discern) Any thoughts before...

My New (to Me) 73 Imperial LeBaron

Looking again, I've seen two different returns for the HL2 code. The Parchment frames that I first saw someone mention it as on a couple of forums, but then the decoder on RealDash.net says HL2 is 'Unknown Int.' Maybe that's the Burnished Red but hasn't been entered into a database yet?

Whom do you recommend sending those off to? As far as the Thermoquad, my mechanic is giving it back to me; I have no idea whether it's the original or not, but suspect it probably is.

My New (to Me) 73 Imperial LeBaron

Here are the fender tag and window sticker. I'm not currently in the same town as the car, so I can't post the door sticker for the moment. I don't see the Trailer Towing Package on the window sticker, but it does have the mount, hitch, and a wire in the trunk. Perhaps someone added that...
