    A lil ? 68 300 with a 70 383. Needs tlc

This was a very short response. But it does warrant a second read thru and decent consideration. Nice car btw.

Looking for an adjustable pushrod-1966 440

Unless im missing something here..... no amount of decking the block or shaving the heads is enough to need custom length pushrods for a street motor. Are the originals missing??? If you have a spare one of those, it would be easy enough to weld up your own with some standard hardware (fine...

    gas turning to varnish

Unrelated, but interesting none the less. I have a Corvair that i last put fuel in the tank no less than 15 years ago. The car is old obviously, the carbs are new 20 years ago and then bolted on the car and used very few miles ( same gas as today ). I jump started it and it ran a few weeks...

Paper water pump and timing cover gaskets: RTV sealant or nothing?

So, as factory new, or like new, you could easily get away with nothing but the paper. As you said, you are going to want to use the RTV at corners. Most folks who dress a paper gasket will use High-Tack, CopperCoat or even Permatex on the cover, but not the block.....this would make any...

    Chrysler Big Block redline??

The bottom end of a good or new 361/383 will happily do 5k. A motor in crappy condition with a half clogged oil pickup will spin a rod bearing! If it makes power to 5k, id do it....if the powers falling off by 5k, then dont.....cuz its not doing anything for you at that point.

    1960 Original Carburator

2991 looks like the correct list number, as youve said....its an AFB.

383 +30 anyone know how big a exhaust I can put in before I have to clearance the deck?

You could solve a whole lot of these issues with potential by starting out with a 400 (biggest stock bore)

Need Parking Lock Cover for 1965 Torqueflite Transmission.

I would call A&A in indiana. Pat Blais is a good choice too. I think 62,3,4 and 5 are the same?? Whats the casting number on it?

    Question on V belts

I don't think you'll find any jobbers pushing matched pairs anymore. If I were in your shoes, I'd repace them. However, I would buy two. put them on and run them for a short time and then check them for a match with a Browning belt tension checker.....if they are both within spec, and...

    1966 TF727 “hemi” trans

Application number...... not the VIN or anything particular to that exact vehicle otherwise.

    1966 TF727 “hemi” trans

Its worth more..... there are people hunting specific application numbers.... the six pack cars too, as well as the hemis. And they do have special internals unless someone has been in there messin.

Question about a stuck 326 Dodge engine

Gotta agree with cbody67 in the post above. Praying it starts turning over so you can ignore what it looks like inside that motor after 48 years is probably the wrong approach.

    Question on different RV sealants

Youll likely do fine with the black. They are all very similar with the following nuances; Toughness, blue, then black, then grey is the toughest after setting up. Ford used to build about the whole motor with the grey stuff. I have found it to be a real problem solver. The red is high...

    General A727 Potential R&R questions/suggestions.

That is a slap on the nose for sure. Probably pretty tough to find a 361 block laying around. I dont know how cherry your whole car is, but there was a member with a complete and beautiful fresh 361 a little while ago. Im thinking he was selling it. Ill do a search.....may have been fbbo...

Wrong Torque converter? Modify, or return to sender?

No need to gamble, or bolt everything down. With a sturdy straight edge and 6" machinist ruler, you should be able to measure how much if any the TC will pull back from fully bottomed. The crankshaft and flex plate truly set the TC depth, right or wrong, as you read. Just compare the...

    383 differences per year

This is good info, but if i were the OP I would check both blocks to confirm. Im almost certain that i have a '66 block with those bosses. Gonna have to look tho...

    question on harmonic balancer

I would bet my bottom dollar that if i attempted this myself, i throw the TDC mark out of kilter and waste my efforts. I am curious to know tho..... what/who is the source for replacement rubbers???

    383 Intake install

Not a one size fits all question. Fiber gaskets are often used with aluminum manifolds as John said. However, if machine work required cutting of heads, block, manifold or all, then you may have to have them. Best practice is to drop the manifold on with NO gasket or bathtub, then look...

    question on harmonic balancer

If it looks good, and the timing mark at TDC is spot on, id leave it alone.
