    For Sale 1972 Newport project

The stub frame is bad rust wise, however the mounting points aren't bad. Some batching will be required set the rear most driver side mounting point. I'll be back at the shop tomorrow evening so I'll post some pics ASAP of the front section. I really don't think it's beyond repair. Somebody...

    For Sale 1972 Newport project

Hi all, sad day, selling off my 1972 Newport. Don't wanna sell her but owner of my garage I rent is selling the building and the new garage is quite a bit smaller. Not sure if she's far gone enough to part her out. My plan was to replace the stub frame (have a decent one from a new yorker) and...

If the stub frame is intact I would be interested. I could even bring down my mobile workshop and remove it if you would like. I'm not too far from Mantua

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Just to update. I didn't have any luck with drilling the Exhaust manifold bolt. I drilled it a little off center so the bolt-out was engaging the head not just the bolt.. So to craigslist. Found a set of recently gone over heads with a cam for 600$.. More than I wanted to spend, but it was the...

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

I was hoping to work on it today but ended up working till just now. I'm going to first try and weld up the bolt then if that fails I'll take a die grinder to it. I'll keep y'all updated. Thanks mr.mopar. I have the AC wires accounted for so that must be the alternator wire.

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Couldn't agree with you more.. Yeah I've seen people weld a washer to the bolt then weld a nut onto the washer... Maybe I will give that a try. I have a little Lincoln MIG which should do the trick. Would any of you guys be concerned about overheating any Part part the head? I'll just be using...

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Well the problem I'm having is that the Valve cover bolt already has an extractor broken off in it. So my drill just wants to walk when I attempt to drill it out. I guess I can give it another shot when I get back to my shop after work. But last time I tried there was a lot of sweating involved...

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Ha yeah the Magnetic screw keeper. Definitely Will use high temp thread sealer on the stud. Good to know that I won't need new head bolts. That Will save me some $. Yeah I noticed there was no gasket on the passenger side exhaust manifold. And like half the nuts were almost hand tight. So I'm...

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Whoo wee. Yeah that doesn't sound pretty. I'm hoping that's not the case. From what I've read the 452 heads are the way to go.

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Also, for some reason I thought you always want to replace Head bolts when doing a Head job. I've only done a head job on a over head cam Volvo so this is a little different.

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Yeah 70_NPRT I've heard about the hardened seats issue. So I'm going keep my fingers crossed. Broke an extractor off in the broken bolt... Previous owner broke off exhaust manifold stud. Both on driver side.

Replacing heads and (hopefully) easy alternator issue

Leaving for a Colorado road trip on Wednesday... As I've mentioned in a past post I have a couple broken bolts on the driver side head. One being on the valve cover. Attempted to just toss on a new cork gasket.. Which helped but it still leaked. So I yanked the valve cover again and replaced...

    Swap meet info

Thanks for the insight guys. Yeah I was planning on dressing up the new heads and get them ready to roll so when I get a free day I can plan on doing a head job on her instead of yanking the heads and waiting on the machine shop...She's 10x more fun to drive than to work on. So I like to keep...

Tilt/Scope ignition switch, getting to it

I think it was an old VW I was working on a while ago and it didn't have a master spline. So i was keeping my fingers crossed that more cars form this era didn't have em. Oh well, like they say.. It's never easy!!

Tilt/Scope ignition switch, getting to it

Thanks for the heads up y'all! The last steering wheel was on a 1993 C3500 and that was kind of a b!tch. So I think I'll live with it for the mean time. I gave her a back yard alignment using the two mason string method. It actually worked quite well. Took my time and got the Toe In spot on...

Tilt/Scope ignition switch, getting to it

Looks like I'm not the only one missing the gear pointer! Also my horn doesn't work and my car drives straight by the steering wheel is cocked to the left.. So I was going to try to kill 3 birds with one stone and take apart the steering wheel. Couple questions before I dive into this. Does the...

Ha I'll keep that in mind for the future. Ended up making a trip down to Summit and picked up one of their Electronic distributor conversion kits. Shes running like a top now. I think I may have exercised the demon finally. Now I just gotta get the Electric choke hooked up. Looks like the temp...
