1406 kickdown on a 66 Newport

Hey guys,

Just finishing my installation on my 1406 carb and preformer 383 intake. I got the adapter for the carb but I want to make sure I'm correct. Does anyone have a picture of how the did their kickdown linkage?

Maybe this will help? I can send different ones if you need. And yes I did replace the vacuum hose to the booster lol. This is not my setup but how I got the car and it works well.

Hi Guys,

have a question related to this topic; I also want to install an EDE 1406 on my '70 Imperial. Do I need some additional parts except the linkage adapter 1481?

My 1406 bolted right onto my '70 440 300 replacing the Holley square bore. If you have the same should be simple. If you have a TQ and spreadbore intake the above adapter will be necessary. You will also need to wire in the electric choke. It requires a steady 12v supply on the run side of the ignition. If you have a stock engine you may want to get the calibration kit for the 1406. I found I needed to lean out my cruise circuit a little.
 
thats all you need is a good spacer and the 1481 adapter. if the kickdown is too short it is like 5/16 - 24 thread or so,, i wrote about it here somewhere on the site.

At the moment I have a Holley 4778, which is also a square bore. So the adapter should be not necessary, or?

Should not be necessary. You will have to tap off the wire running to the idle stop solenoid as you won't need it.
