Here is a link to the OIC (Online Imperial Club) page which featured Dave and his Mobile Director.
David Schwartz' 1967 Mobile Director Coupe
It sure LOOKS like the one on eBay is the same car. I remember Dave was in poor health, and put it up for sale, then got better and decided to hold on to it. After the trouble he went to restoring the table it was nice to see him enjoying his Mobile Director, and I think it was featured in the WSJ. Not positive, but I think the lamp was a standard tensor lamp (popular in the 60's), with a different plug in that could be used with one of the lighters. At any rate, I hope Dave is doing OK.
Here's a link to a different Mobile Director that was featured in a magazine in the mid-90's, there are many photos, including the "blank off" cap that was used if the table/mechanism were removed. The original table/post could be completely removed.
Michael Amodt's Imperial Mobile Director
Other than the Turbine car, that red interior makes this Imp "the one I'd "sell it to the devil" for......
I know a guy in the MD burbs of DC who has a '67 Mobile Director (yellow w/ black or brown interior) and the trade-off with these is that the table makes a much less comfortable armrest (or none at all when the table is in use) than what you'd have otherwise, so this way-cool feature DOES come at a cost for the driver......
At any rate, Dave has been a nice colleague on this list, and I hope he is doing well........
