Have you made any progress?
Not really, time was taken away by some stuff, I need to find the correct headlight switch first, then go through the turn signal, and left side bulb grounds, as advised above.
Not having any luck finding the switch yet, that is at a human prices. Been thinking bout trying to rig a universal headlight and horn switch. The kid uses this car as a everyday car. Its all he owns so i can't have it layed up for too long.

I've got a box with some other miscellaneous parts in it. I'll try to locate it tonight. It's not in the garage so I must have stuffed it in the rafters of the shed. My first NYer was my DD for a number of years in the 90's.

Yeah some people just don't care.
For the idiots,I carry a baseball bat in the trunk of my 68...takes up less room than the trunk monkey,LOL.
Besides I am not afraid to drive the **** out of my car for hundreds/thousands of miles.

The kid was crashed into twice while stopped at lights. One driver clearly had no licence and the other refused to show his information. He said he sneezed and put his foot on the gas or off the brake, don't know. I did not want to see my step son in jail so i told him just to leave and i will fix the bumper.

Sorry to hear that. If he drove a newer smaller car it would have been a different story.
The NYer is a tank but too bad it has a bullseye on its ***.

I just read the post. I had a green 1968 New Yorker with brake light problems. Spent a week trying to trace down the problem. After all that work it turned out that it was the turn signal switch itself. All wire go through the switch. Once I replaced that and They worked (wonder of wonders). I didn't have anymore problems. When I changed the turn signal switch my wife asked me why didn't I just start there? Needless to say unless I "really" have to. I let someone else do the electrical work because I checked every wire from front to back that was associated with that circuit with nothing but a test light. Not my idea of a fun time.

Got to talking with my wife about that "venture" and when we replaced the old wiring and switch we, found a slightly bare wire or two. Everything goes through the turn signal switch in the steering wheel/ column. If you compare the old cars with the new ones everything still goes through the steering wheel/column. The only difference is today they use a a single wound piece of wire called a "clock spring" to take the place of the multiple wires in the old turn signal switch.

I found the box of miscellaneous parts unfortunately the was not a headlight switch for a 68. I have one in a dash still, but the lever is broken off short. If you would like I can take it out, but it's going to be Saturday before I can get to it.

I'll take it. I think the the lever is held in by a pin. If the car is a parts car he may need some small parts, one of pot medal doul headlight housing had broken off i know. Let me know what you may want. thanks scott

I don't have the whole car. Just the dash and some the pieces I kept. I'm not sure what potmetal piece you were talking about, but I might have it.
i'll post a photo, is this the car which you had a hood for, i think i spoke to you about it at the time of my sons 1st accident.

I had a 1978 Ford Fairmont wagon, had the low beams and dash lights go out on me in the middle of the night on a trip to see my wife's in laws. Long story short my father in law had the same thing happen to him while driving and suggested we buy a new dimmer switch. Installed it and fixed the problem. Believe it or not this happened when the car was brand new. All this to say that there are other things than just the obvious in electrical. Wish the "old fart " was around today he would be on here all the time. I learned a lot from him about cars of all years from the teens to when he died in 1993.

Scott PM me what bits and pieces your son needs for his car.
I have some leftovers I can sift through.
Cheers
