Potentiometer. Basically an adjustable resistor.

12 volts at the ammeter. The gauges are actually 5 volts. The voltage is stepped down with a voltage regulator so if you hook 12 volts to the ammeter connection with the gauges still in the cluster you will be ok. If the gauges are out and you are checking them individually, then you want 5 volts.

I have all the gauges individually! I will check them with 5 volts then! Thanks.

Another part is done! I love shiny metal :)

Amazing. How did you restore the finish on the metal?

Most parts are done with a wire wheel and a polishing wheel on a table grinder. But all tight sections are done with a toothbrush sized wire brush and a rag with Autosol. I'm also using a lot of different dry and wet sandpapers.

Some small, winding parts with just surface rust are washed with soap and hot water using a nail brush and then soaked in metal rescue.

That's the gringer... Found it for close to nothing on a garage sale. The wire wheel creates a great brushed finish. If I want it smoother, I use the polishing wheel on the left with 2 different polishing pastes. Called "pre polish - rough finish" and "high-gloss finish"

Amazing job on all of these... I know there are some hardcore C-body restorers in Europe, but you must be in top 10 if you keep this up...

All best wishes and good luck, hope to see you and the Imp someday!

Wow, nice work Vodka. Wish I had the room and time (and patience) to undertake such a project. I expect your Imp to be a top notch specimen with you complete it. Can't wait to see that :)

I hope you're as proud of yourself as you should be, Julian.
