1969 Imperial progress thread

I'm happy with my work but unfortunately, I'm a perfectionist.. That's a curse sometimes...

Not for us viewing your work LOL. curse part that is.

Perfectionist should be a requirement for professionals and damn good trait for those working on their own stuff

With making seals by myself, I finished the fender mounted turn signals.

I had the different senses from the 70 spare parts, but decided to keep the original 69 ones.

And I started overhaulin the HVAC. First part of it done is the Auto Temp Confrol Unit Assembly.

That thing was hasty and stinky... There was a rodent nest inside the box...

Pretty interesting "technology" Chrysler build there. Confusing, but interesting!

The circuit board was bad... But I tried the best without removing all the single components soldered onto the board.

I just spent the last few hours working through this entire thread....All I can say is WOW!! Your attention to detail, and your willingness to dive in head first and get the job done is something to be admired.

One question I have though is one the parts that you have left "bare metal" have you coated them in a clear coat paint, or left them natural? I would want some sort of paint on them or that beautiful finish will end up flash rusting once humidity is introduced to them.

Keep up the great work, and I will be following your progress more diligently from now on. ;)

I must say I've seen a hell of a lot of build threads and individual here's how or tech threads here and on FBBO, and DodgeCharger (and there is a LOT of good ones) Vodka but your work in this thread is among if not the best I have ever seen. Well done !

Hours? Wow

Sealing parts is indeed a problem I messed around with... I've tried two different products of clear surface sealer already but was not happy with the result For now, I oiled the parts to prevent them from srart rusting until I find the right product ... Clear primer and clearcoat is the next I'll try.

Wow, thanks :) That's one hell of a compliment Oo

That sets the bar really high now, better not get lazy ;) naaaw. I enjoy to work on the parts and it's great seeing the results after working on a part for hours.

Visit this site and have a look at "Smart Coat". I made a steel handrail that lives outside with nothing else but this stuff on it and its been 2 years and still no rust! The best part is you just wipe it on like a wood stain and you're done. Works over rust too so you can capture a patina and once its on it just gives the metal a wet look.

Thanks Matt, that stuff sounds great. I can't get it in Germany but asked them about shipping costs to germany. We'll see!

I ordered another product today, called Owatrol oil. I'll post a review here on this one as well!

Ask them about putting it in luggage. That might be something that it makes sense to have my friend carry with him when he goes to Bad Durkheim next time.

That would be another good way to do it! I will see what shipping will cost and how the Owatrol oil will work. Thanks for offering it again, I will come back to your offer if domestic products will fail! ;)
