1970 Chrysler Imperial Lebaron 4dr HT

I can't understand whats wrong with "somebody's overseas big american ride"..! Sad for you but give us a chance owning beauties like this over here. Ebay is the easiest way to buy a car overseas because of easy payment etc.

I know what I'm talking about...
Its just sad to see some cool cars with cool designs leaving the states. No ill will towards the buyers personally.

The undertone on this board until now was "main thing is rescuing c-bodys, no metter how" I thought...

But I understand your point!

I for myself do not like the alternative here ;) :poke:

Its an Americana thing. Muscle Cars (and c body cars) and ESP MOPARS, could not have happened anywhere else in the world EXCEPT America. They are a representation of personal freedom and free will.

I understand your worries, espesially when I see what most people here do with the cars....

But keep them in the USA is not a guarantee for good treatment...

Agreed. Nevertheless, part of freedom is freedom to have bad taste, and not get hung for it......although I wouldn't care if the owner of this abomination were hung.

Americans and their freedom. An excuse for a lot of things. ;) I like that!! I wish I could live the american dream.

I hope you don't wish me hanging when I take one of these cars someday to Germany. But I swear, I will never build a frankencar like this example!

Freedom is not an excuse, its a beautiful thing. I wouldn't trade it for anything in the world. Seriously, even "frankencar" has the right to do what he wants, but no amount of money can buy good taste. You either have it, or you don't

vdk,

This topic has been beaten to death here. I personally have no problem with an overseas enthusiast buying American cars. Good for you, buy two or three & I hope you love them all.

Hear, Hear

As much as we appreciate our cars here... I think the Europeans appreciate them at least as much and perhaps more. These cars are a symbol of an American freedom not experienced anywhere else.

Julian.... I hope you are able to lock onto the car of your dreams.... And if you need any assistance theres folks here who are thrilled to see another C body rescued and giving the TLC they deserve.

I haven't heard of a European Demo derby yet......

Overseas demo derby only when the container falls over in the sea.

I have no ill will towards anyone who purchases a vehicle from overseas. I have been transporting cars, trucks, boats, tractors, engines, transmission...well you get the drift, down to the ports in CA. now for 15 years, it is my profession. Actually, one could say that I am a contributor to vehicles going abroad. I will say however, it is a bit disheartening to see these gems going overseas as maybe 1% return. When they leave, they are usually gone for good. In a month span to see 300 cars go away knowing this is a tough pill to swallow. I have seen some extremely beautiful and rare cars pushed into the container... makes one shed a tear. Lol I have many European and Australian friends I have met over the years that are every bit the car enthusiast as any American. The bottom line is most Americans are not willing to spent the $$$ and overbid on cars they have had around them our all their lives, myself included. Or simply put, we just do not have the $$$. So yeah, bid it up and profit from this scenario... tis what it tis... still hurts to see them go, just a little.

If you think the prices for our cars are low now, imagine what they would bring if there were no cars going overseas. We would get less, and there would be more that just sit there rotting while the owners dream about restoring them "one day". It is our own undoing. We ***** and moan about the the number of cars out there that need homes, and then we ***** and moan when someone steps up to the plate paying the price plus the shipping (more than we would pay to ship a car to our homes).

I agree, 72-73 has a very unique front end. The 70, in my opinion, has cleanest front end treatment, mainly the grill. The car has 73k on it, has all options: dual air, 8-track, auto dim etc.... and a strong odor of mice piss inside lol! The interior was actually nice, perhaps replacing carpet would get rid of awful stench.

Oh what a rancid smell. I have been the surprised owner of two rat toilet cars. A 71 imperial 4 door hard top and the biggest turd I ever bought, a 70 300 convertible. The smell was so bad in the imperial I parted it out. the rat piss rusted the floor pan out in the rear seat area. Such a shame, it was black, nicely optioned and ran well. It just smelled like the zoo from about 4 feet away. i dumped the rag top for a loss and was happy to do so.

Um... guilty as charged. No lie, will never get all my own cars as I would like them to be. Shipping? Have watched cars fall apart on my trailer heading south. $3000 between me and the container for a $1500 car, thats dedication.
