I live in Essen just 60 miles away (south west).

If you are in the area again: Let me know

Carsten
I probably won't be back to Sendenhorst, I no longer work for VEKA but I do still travel internationally so who knows. Thanks!

Macho-ness or not and regardless of where you live, A/C really helps with operation of the defroster. When the windshield is fogged up, you gotta have the A/C running (it runs with the defroster) to quickly clear it. I remember reading somewhere that there is a federal requirement that manufacturer's cars must be able to clear a windshield within a certain time, and without the A/C running with the defroster, they couldn't comply. So all cars now have A/C. Maybe Steve (SAFORWARDLOOK) can comment on this. . .

I do not think there is a federal requirement so onerous that a/c is required on all cars now, since until recently, a/c has been optional on the current Dodge Dart at least. But you are correct. In some conditions when the humidity is high, I find it very hard to defrost the large windows in my 1997 Chrysler Concorde. With the a/c operating, in just a couple minutes the windows are completely clear, whereas without it, it is almost impossible to keep them clear. The a/c system in my Condorde would cool my whole house with its abundant capacity. 3 times better than the a/c in my circa 70s Chrysler products. Chris is actually correct, when it is above 100F, I usually elect to drive my Concorde. The engine never gets hot in any condition, and there has never been a day yet in 19 years of ownership that it couldn't keep me at 73F, no matter what. Even with all the glass in the car. But if you like sweating, have at it.

My comments in this thread are just to poke fun, as I very well know Carsten's feelings regarding new cars and a/c and Dave too for that matter. Too bad my 1970 B7 blue Sport Fury GT has a/c though! Otherwise I know Carsten would want it and I know a car has to match the core support tag for him. :p

my cars have that crap and they are all built before 1971.

Some of them could use a heater in the winter. But often it doesn't work in Fuselage C-bodies.

Wait .. what? I know NYB's have the Temp control I and II issues (not to mention the wipers) and now I find out Fusies have inherent heater issues ????

Dammit.

True I wouldn't want the AC.
But the AC delivers the 26" radiator needed as otherwise it would have only a 22" radiator. So there is a reason to justify it being on the fender tag

So I could leave the AC stuff in, non working of course.
The AC compressor would be nicknamed "Steve".

Would that help?:D

The heater control valve is a vacuum operated piece that can be troublesome. New replacement valves are available, but it's not uncommon to see a manual ball valve from the local hardware store installed in the heater hose.

So this is an inherent problem with Fusies specifically?

Does that ball valve 'fix' work satisfactorily ?

I would say it's an annoyance rather than calling it a problem. The valve can be replaced but sometimes it's hard to find at a decent price. The aftermarket replacement looks nothing like the original, but I think it works better.

The ball valve does work. You have to open the hood to turn it off or on so it's really not a "fix". It's more of a band aid. Some would even call it a "hack job". I've done it on various C body DDs I had years ago to get heat in the winter and no heat in the summer.

The heater valve on my 300 decided to stick open last year. It got a ball valve until I found a replacement at a price I wanted to pay.

Or just buy one without air but with a tow package which includes the 26 . FYI my 22" radiator on the other 383 has zero cooling issues and zero heater issues with no shroud

No, there are just people who shall we say... Don't get any joy from fixing "boring" or complex things. And after 40-50 years, lots of these things break or wear out.

Nuts to the idea of weak/inferior A/C. While I won't deny the automatic systems are troublesome, there is no reason you shouldn't be able to use (and enjoy) your A/C. Chrysler has been testing cars in the AZ desert since 1957. I should know, I was one of about 100 people on the direct payroll from '99-'03.

If you're overheating, if your A/C isn't keeping up, it's because something isn't working the way it was designed.

Nice car, great colours. I wish the 70 Imperial came with skirts (only fuselage year that the Imperial came without skirts), looks "off" to me.

I wouldn't want you to compromise your values....................................
And putting my name on that big, heavy, rocking, goofy compressor didn't help either!

come on Steve, you require the big, heavy, rocking goofy compressor in the enginebay:D

I could live without it in my enginebay.

But whenever I see an AC compressor I am thinking of you ;o))

I only dislike 22" radiator compared to 26". I usually get them in HiPo axle packages but those were not available in SFGT.

Dave a towing package would be bad. I wouldn't want a hitch in the back of my car. A non visible AC in the engine bay would even be better.

Steve you won't get rid of me I am like Bernie, I don't give up easily

Carsten

Chrysler manual A/C systems are easy to get working and maintain. The only minor problem is that you have to have the hoses remanned by your local hydraulic repair shop. I wouldn't own a car with ATC.

This Imp is very, very nice and a very desirable color. Fusie Imp's, especially coupes seen to be very rare in this condition. Again, every car looks great in pictures....but validated with an eyes on the car inspection I believe this one can reach $10k.

he could get way more for it.
But he doesn't allow outside of the US bidders.
So he will loose serious interested potential buyers

If someone really wants a clean&nice Imp 2dr it can bring 15-20k IMHO
