J-channel = vinyl.

Aluminum uses corners that are there to be torn off by mowers and weed-wackers.

Wood gives you something fun to do with your spare time, like scraping and wire-brushing an entire building.

It's definitely vinyl. I can tell by the J-channel around the door and window in particular and as Stan pointed out the vinyl corner posts and all the lap joints. It's textbook.

Speculation and hearsay. Overruled due to lack of evidence.

The glove fits, it's vinyl...

Irrelevant. You are merely touching the surface. The real issue is that the garage has no A/C.

that the original color?

Yes. I believe it's called "spring green". I've seen a few out there, including a recent basket case posted in the For Sale section. However, mine was the only one I've ever seen with white/white.

The bid is $11,250.00 , reserve not met...

I suppose the vendor is expecting to fetch closer to 18K, perhaps even 20K. Can't blame him. The car is very, very nice. It has been treated with due respect all of it's life, and it shows.

The heater control valve is a vacuum operated piece that can be troublesome. New replacement valves are available, but it's not uncommon to see a manual ball valve from the local hardware store installed in the heater hose.[/QUOTE

Big John,
I know it is probably in this forum somewhere, but who does supply the ATC II heater control valve? Thanks for the help.

There's other guys that are much more familiar with the ATCII. I've never owned one myself.

Best to start a new thread so other folks can see and give you a hand.

Thank you, I will when I get the car back from upholstery.

but who does supply the ATC II heater control valve?
I can only speak for the 74+ valves...
Nobody. And it's a unique pc.
You have to search high and low for a NOS one. They pop up occasionally.
Rare enough where if I see one for sale, I post it here for the other Formal owners.

Auto Temp II system servos and other parts are supplied by Performance Analysis Company:

Performance Analysis | Climate Control | Diaphragms | Blower Motors | Pushbutton Panels | Vacuum Door Locks | Autotemp | Cruise Control | Engine Oil Analysis | Mercedes-Benz Parts | Mercedes-Benz Club of America | Oak Ridge | Car Care - ACC Version I | Performance Analysis Co.

I would call them to see just what years of Auto Temp II systems they supply. All I know is that they do cover the 1971 through 1973 years for sure. I installed one in my 1972 Imperial and it works great and reliably for the first time ever. They use an aluminum housing to replace the junk bakelite housing that cracks after about 2 years, whether you use it or not much. Don't know what Chrysler ws thinking with those bakelite housings even in the standard heater valves for the regular a/c systems in those years. Garbage.

Five hours left. Seller has lowered the reserve so that next bid of $11,300, or greater, meets it.

Appears this one is gonna get a new home .. possibly, as you never know with these things.

That is a beautiful Imp!

I hope the new owner joins us here on FCBO!

Received two bids in the last 19 seconds of the auction, and the winning bid 6 seconds before the end. Sold for $15,751. Seems like a reasonable price, if even somewhat low.
