oh and.........Paul says his truck is 76 power wagon and says oem trim rings are the same as roadwheels..will ask him to get a pic of his beside my trim rings for comparison...may open another avenue to get these trim rings.....makes note..

&%(^%))(_)(^%$&.....dang...Welp Mr Paul powered up the dash and all was as it should be..were couple small changes to be made re the 140 speedo as a couple wires were diffrent..bad news was negative where the cassette deck and radio were concerned...static from radio..yes ariel was hooked up and cassette deck worked but cassette motor was weak so is looking like lm gona have to send this stuff out to experts....cant see myself not putting this stuff back in...most would thrown in a am/fm radio and called it a day...good grief....

I covet those 7" rims, but too late to change mine now. I just want to drive it.

The three speaker dash is curious. AM radio cars got a single speaker in the center. AM/FM Stereo cars got two speakers, left and right. The speakers mounted hidden under the dash pad which had a matrix of holes to let the sound out. I've never surface mounted grills like yours. Maybe the AM radio used the center speaker and the two out board were add ons part of the cassette option. I assume the cassette is stereo. I've never seen a factory cassette car so all of this maybe perfectly normal. If my assumption that the AM radio only uses the center speaker, then the rear fader only applies to the radio. All very interesting.

For those commenting on Paul's yard, Paul's wife is an amazing lady. She has crazy creativity and has designed and built every square inch of the property. Their land abuts a small gravel pit which has a great supply of round river polished rock. She has hauled probably 2000 or so rocks and has the most amazing gardens and such. She built a water feature which includes a 5` high waterfall, 150`of stream, a big pond and a couple of bridges. It is magical.

Try Gary Tayman. Auto Radio, Auto Audio, for antique and vintage vehicles

He does repairs on antique radios but the best bet might be to have him update the radio rather than try to repair it.

I have a number of 71 300s and a 71 Monaco that have the optional hood release, and they look identical in terms of the mounting bracket, but the actual handle is black plastic on the Monaco and chrome on the Chrysler/Imperial models. And they are mounted in the same place on the Monaco, but on Chrysler models, they were mounted a little further under the dash to not interfere with the a/c spot cooler bezel. With Chrysler, running changes were the norm so you might have an early build car that could have had a different setup. I checked my 73 Monaco, and it too has the same bracket as my 71s, but the handle (black plastic again) is oriented vertically instead of horizontally as in the 71s.
Also, the park brake release is normally protruding where the manual choke cable pull knob is located in Derek's GT, so someone moved the brake release on Derek's car.

You are 100 percent correct Steve , Stan, Wolfen..... Going through the photos, including my own car it is face mounted ... Looking at how it is mounted in the photos posted made zero sense to me, almost like it would have to be pulled up instead of out. Close up photos on my computer, proves me wrong

Critter, I came across a company that sells decal kits, they don't show 71 but they do show 70 kits. Maybe the side strobe from a 70 is the same as 71?

no..not even close....will see alota those generic stripes on the 70s...think l may have even seen 1 or 2 71s with those generic stripes but at this point in time Paul is the man with the only genuine stripe package on the go
