1971 Plymouth Sport Fury GT Brogham & U code Super Comando

its great for me because lve never realy had my 30 mins crawin under one yet...rumour has it that 700+ hi res pics are en route....imagine these are all tear down...Paul says as of today theres nothing left to pull apart....everything from here on in is stuff goin back together....

I don't know how I've been missing out on this........Amazing work

Now I have an odd request.......What will you be doing with your original quarter panels? The '70 Convertible I'm going to purchase needs a set and I would rather start with a set that are more complete and well better....I can fix a rusty but straight pair........rusty, body filled, mangled not so much.

Sorry if I hijacked your topic.

I have two old Office shutter cabinets at a shop for a Basic makeover for three months now. I'm not sure if that lame *** delivers before this car is back on the street.

Such craftsmen with quick and good results are dying out in all professions. Body, paint , Name it.

That's because the cars evolved. Modern engines can't be bored in many cases, due to materials, design, coatings...computers have taken over the fuel system and transmission. The steel in use since the 1980s doesn't allow for the gentle massaging the old stuff did. And every time you hear about emission devices and regulations... the paint industry has been hit harder than anyone... it wont be long before you wont be able to buy the stuff to paint your own car without a certified booth. At least that's the direction I understand it to be moving in. All that means you need an old timer or one of the few young people who did serious time under an old timer and have adopted a suitable work ethic for quality instead of "flat rate" mentality of making money. Its kind of a losing proposition all the way around...progress sucks.

Love the work in progress... keep the pics coming

question??? what are folks useing for the 71 fury in the way of body bushings...have heard mention of hockey pucks fitting and working....would like to find oem...dont like the new poly type ones...to stiff and hard...thoughts?

I was looking at the pic of your car on the first page and it has only just occurred to me after all these weeks that it has the 70 style road wheels on it. Is that original to this car?

They came with the car so am asumeing thier originally to the car....can't say 100% thier originally without build sheet

I'm curious to find out more, I am expecting my GT at the end of the week, fingers crossed and it has aftermarket wheels on it. If the 70 style is acceptable then that will make my life a whole lot easier when it comes to finding an original set.

Okay yes, both types of road wheels available in 71, phew!

The '70 road wheels used a one year only center cap which had groves making it look like a gear. I believe '71 had a smooth round center cap.

Great progress Cancritter, from here on only pretty pictures! You get off your butt and get a passport yet? If not I'll drive it back to Calgary, maybe via Halifax. LOL

The whole point I posted the vbrochure picture was to show that the 70 and 71 road wheel was available together, as you can see in the picture. As for the center cap being a one year only cap in 70, this is simply not true and can be seen on a number of years and models of cars including as an option on the 74 road runner.
