1972 Dodge Monaco wagon, my 1st C body Mopar!

Nice selection for making this wagon tour first C Body. Very cool.
Be sure to bring it to Volo in June.

Today I removed the back door panel because I could see debris plugging the drainholes that needed to be cleaned out...wow! There were lots of pine needles and basically mud in the bottom.

And l found that this rod had popped out of the arm

I remember this wagon well when for sale and discussed on here, congrats on the score! What a great way to start a journey into the world of C's.

When the weather permits, the entire underside will be treated with a nice layer of POR-15

Congratulations on the wagon but I must warn you not to use POR-15. That stuff is overpriced and does NOT work as intended. I can speak to multiple cars (including a high dollar rotisserie restoration) where the coating failed and a quick google search will show countless others with similar issues.

I'd hate to see anyone else burn their money on it.

Disagree all you want but POR-15 is low quality and anyone knowledgeable that sees that stuff on a car immediately knows there are problems underneath being painted over. It’s an expensive ‘backyard mechanic’ way to convince yourself that you’re stopping the rust.

Anyone that applies it to clean bare metal is not only wasting their time and money but they are guaranteeing product failure as it needs the rust to attempt its so-called “bond”.

Marine clean, Metal ready, brushed, diluted/sprayed.... doesn’t matter. It’s trash. I’m trying to warn folks before they find out the hard way- been there, done that.

I'm with guyfecta, I've only seen it used to repair panels people didn't want to replace, and if the metal is clean, why put anything over it, other than maybe paint? Por-15 adds weight I don't want or need, and won't go on a clean car I own.

Heading out to the garage, got a full day planned replacing parts and getting more familiar with the Monaco. A couple days ago I was even able to take it out with a few of my children on its maiden voyage!

Overall I'm very pleased, but I do need to address a couple things. Very early upshifts with lazy 2/3 shift. I'm hoping I can remedy that with some line pressure adjustment. And my headlights were blinking on and off, I imagine this is a relay/corroded connection issue. Anyhow, here is some eye candy, a perfect dash surround to replace my broken original

Am I correct in believing these spark plug wires were produced in Feb 1976?

Congrats, Blimp! What a cool looking Monaco! Like the way it sits low over the standard wheels! Awesome! Any idea what has happened to the outside? It does look good, but it's not the usual "natural" patina...

What did the PO do with the roof rack? I don't remember seeing it your car, even when it was advertised.

Nice solid score, if your roof rack is missing, and you desire a replacement.I have a complete one from a 69 wagon if they X reference. Let me know
