NOT MINE 1973 Dodge Polara Poss police pkg Mesa AZ

Cleaned up the seats and put them back in. They need redoing but they look a lot better than they did.

You've been busy, thanks for posting updates, the more I see this car the more I like it. Base Polara so it has the standard door panels but it has vinyl/cloth seats and carpeting, looks like a switch for an electric trunk release on the lower left side of the dash.

Yes it does have an electric trunk release.

No I haven't. I found an Arizona State University Campus Police Facebook page so I messaged them to see if they could give me any information but haven't heard back yet.
Could have been purchased under state bid for the motor pool, maybe.
I've seen a couple Crown Vics and Impalas where that was the case.

I got a response from the ASU Police Information Officer asking for more pictures. She's not sure she can find anything but she seems interested in trying. Fingers crossed that she'll find something!

Here's the last response from ASU PD.
Hi Chri,

Thanks for the info. I am reaching out to a few contacts to see how I can verify this. Give me a few weeks on this. What is the plan for this vehicle? Are you located in Arizona? I am just asking because if you are looking to restore it, I would love to follow along and potentially include it in a future story. The ASU PD has its own News feed for stories of interest. - https://news.asu.edu/colleges-and-units/asu-police-department.

Thanks again for reaching out. I am looking forward to this project.

Awesome. That sounds fascinating. Well as far as PD records go we only go back 5 years. I have sent this request to the ASU Library to see if they have record confirming its use. I will keep you posted.

Emptied out the trunk and cleaned it up. Was an oily mess but all that oil kept it from rusting! Now I can officially say this car is 100% rust free!

Good progress. This is the fun stage before the excitement of having a new toy wears off, haha. Looks like the factory didn't go too nuts with the bituminous seam sealer on the floor pans, making the cleaning easier. Sometimes the factory slapped that on too generously with what seemed like a 4" paint brush.

I noticed what looked like a 1" MC cable or flex conduit routed along the right side sill. What's in that?

Did this have the police puke mat? I couldn't tell from the photos.

Yes you're right about the conduit but it's empty. It goes right up to a hole in the firewall but nothing in it. Maybe because it doesn't look like this car ever had lights, siren or even a radio?
