I need to replace my radiator. I’ve been looking. The radiator I have has the inlet and outlet on the passenger side. All the radiators I’ve been searching has either one on opposite sides. Is this radiator a weird one?

I was planning on getting a radiator with a passenger outlet and a driver inlet and make it work. Unless someone knows of a source

In reality, the water pump housing should be the same, so just match the upper hose to the radiator you end up with. Seems like the 1970 B/RB a/c radiators had the upper hose more toward the passenger side, if that might matter.

Just some thoughts,

Usually the inlet and outlet are on different sides with the down flow radiator, so that the anti-freeze mixture has to cross the whole radiator before it goes back into the engine and is therefore cooler. I would ditch the radiator you have now in favor of one that has the inlet and outlet on opposite sides. My guess is you have a big block. With the big block 440 in my 1970 Fury, inlet is on the right side and outlet is on the left side. I believe that sides switched sometime in 1973.

Is the radiator that you have now Chrysler radiator? Thanks, Ben

It appears to be the original radiator.

Do you have a picture of the radiator?
Also a picture of the 7 digit Chrysler number cast into the top tank?

Do you need to replace it because it leaks? There should be a good radiator shop in your area that can recore or repair it. Glen Ray Radiators can restore it if that's the direction you want to go.

@prd2bdf -- I second @Toolmanmike 's recommendation to consider having your original recored. I have had a 1970 300 TNT engine 's high-performance radiator recored in Indy at a shop recommended by @david hill, and a "regular" 440 26-incher recored in Rockford at a shop recommended by @71Polara383. I am happy with both.

If you want your P/N 3673 955 26-inch rad recored, make sure to ask about how many rows you want. Buttercup, my 1972 NYB, was originally built with a 2-row radiator; when getting the latter recored in Rockford, I was asked by the shop owner if I wanted it back as is (2 rows) or a high-performance setup (3 rows). I went with the latter, even though it was almost $200 more, and I have zero regrets: Buttercup's engine performs beautifully in 95F+ weather, with zero heat issue.

PS: it would be great if you would post more photos of your gorgeous Newport Navajo in the 1973 Chrysler Thread (and the tag too?)

PPS: just noticed that this thread dates back to 2022, so the rad must have been fixed by now. Any chance that you might join the 2024 CATL drive on Sept. 7?

So you had a two row copper or brass radiator?

Dunno what the metal in the original was -- the correct original would have been Chrysler P/N 3574605 (aka 3574 605 ) but I replaced it by a 3574602 (3574 602 ) 3-core 1972 radiator.
