Looks like we were both busy today. This was a 35,000 mile survivor. I bought it from the original owner who was really into Mopars, even drove it to the Nats. Unlucky for him, he became disabled in '96 after saving orphans trapped in a burning school bus. Since he couldn't drive it, he'd been paying for indoor heated storage for decades. Last spring he needed money to pay for his grandkid's heart operation. He wanted like $10k but no calls, so I reminded him that little Timmy's ticker wasn't getting any better. He finally gave in and I got it for $1500 plus the promise I'd give him a ride once I flushed the gas tank. Lol, that's not enforceable! Really, I just needed the blue dashpad and ash tray for my Dukes o' Hazzard replica (there was a '78 Magnum parked at the Boar's Nest in episode 126). No one on the FBBO site will touch it without the dashpad, so screw those cheap baztahds!

You are going straight to hell sir....

Wow.Monacos are great. But sometimes you have to ask yourself when it,s prudent to stop a project, take the loss and start over with a better car.Been there for sure. That roof rust is real scary because once you start cutting it out who knows how far it goes unless your a body guy and it,s a fun project.Good luck now.B.B

That roof rust only looked scary on the outside. Inside it is completely solid. Inner and outer rockers solid. Floors solid. Frame solid. Oh well, too late now. The old horse went to the glue factory.

...

I personally have no experience bringing something like this to a bodyshop. I've only dealt with issues like this myself. My gut-feeling says either car would be about as "welcome" as ebola in a refugee camp at any legit bodyshop, therefore priced accordingly. The people who typically would accept it, will just high-five each other as soon as you turn your back; only to convert your deposit and car into meth. But I'm cynical....

Yeah I can tell you've been hanging around the parts of this town where I take my beater cars when I don't want to deal with them.

Too bad on the Monaco!

:mob:

But I couldn't step up with $ either. And so it goes....

I suppose this is as good a place as any for some car-carnage. And if you had any doubts as to the reasons for the part-out.

I will also add that I came away with some respect for these late B's in terms of crash-strength. The front end of this car would be pretty damn tough in an accident. Lots of welded members to cut through!
