1978 NYB New Engine.....

Fixed a lot of the little things and finished up the wiring. I still have the AC to finish, I'm going to replace the air cleaner assembly. I need to add a vacuum canister for the brakes. The cam robs the vacuum.

I drove it a few miles today. The performance is monstrous! I have to remember i have an 8.25 axle.......for now. Eventually I will have a 9,25 SG with 3:55 or 3:91.

Plus I don't want to replace rear tires every other day.

Stan, thete is still a bunch of things I'm not remembering at the minute that I still have to do.

For the most part...I'm done with all of the major stuff.

Agreed, with that monster under the hood I’d do a 3.23 or better still a 2.94 especially considering your road trip tendencies.

This is the Air filter I'm going with....

Billet Specialities. Same vendor that made my serpentine system.

I seriously think you'll find it the best compromise the first time you take an extended trip.

I'm having flashbacks to my 69 Super Bee and 73 Challenger. I changed both of them to 4;10's and they weren't fun on the highway. But back then the farthest I drove was the local drag strip. This engine....by far has a lot more HP then either of those cars and the engine winding up on trips would be insane.

By the way, how's the carburetor working out?

Works great. The only thing I had to do was adjust the idle speed. Electric choke works great and it started right up with the big compression and cam. Throttle response is immediate. Very nice carb. A little pricey. I think it was $772 but well worth it.

@73 T&C :rolleyes:

Thank you, Bob.

BTW, On my short ride today in the NYB, I pulled up to a red light at a major intersection next to a new Camaro with Millenials in it with stripes on the hood and trunk. It was pretty funny, the light turned green and they just sat at the light until I rolled about 50 feet. I don't know if the new performance growl scared them or they could of just been trying to figure out what the NYB was....
My Army buddy was riding with me and was laughing his *** off and saying I just won my first race.
