1978 NYB New Engine.....

Going from barely 8:1 to 10.0 to 1 compression is going to increase the hp a little more. .030 overbore adds a little more. And an aggressive (but not crazy) cam adds to it also.

Don't forget the ported heads and that nice open intake!
It will be interesting to see what you MPG does

Still hunting down some parts before installation begins.

Not that far off....

The engine builder put chrome valve covers on it. I'll have a billet air cleaner. I believe I still have plenty of hood clearance.

Do you have a picture of the A/C hoses and a picture of your Sanden? Did you have to make a hose going from the H-block?

Bob, I'm very happy for you... I know you've been thinking about this for a long time. With all the work you've done to your NYB, this seems like the final step to bring her into the vision you've had for her to be the ultimate road trip machine... I'm looking forward to the build updates almost as much as the trip pictures.

Thanks Jeff.

I have ordered a ton of parts for the install.

I've decided to put a billet specialties serpentine system in. This is going to solve several issues at once. I wouldn't of been able to use the factory brackets and accessories without major mods.

I also would of had a problem with the water pump bottom hose would of been on the wrong side to be able to use the aluminum radiator with dual 11 inch fans. So with the serpentine drive system I will have a high performance aluminum water pump with an aluminum housing that will be on the left side and will work on the aluminum radiator.

I do need to know from somebody if a B or an E body with a 26" radiator has the bottom radiator hose outlet is on the left side of the radiator closest to the left fender and the water pump outlet comes out on the left side. I'm trying to find a bottom hose for this arrangement and need to know if a B or an E is setup that way. If I don't get the info I'll try and start a new thread to get a response.

As much as this serpentine setup is opposed.....

It will allow me to mount all of the accessories, makes the aluminum radiator work, allows the Sanden conversion, eliminates that humungous 100 amp alternator and, allows for a small standard size 140 amp alternator, and eliminates the mechanical fan and fan clutch.

Can anyone tell me if a 74 or 75 Formal with 26" radiator has a left side bottom outlet radiator and left side water pump hose outlet. I know the 76, 77, 78 has it on the right side nearest the passenger fender.

Still trying to figure out the bottom radiator hose thing.

BTW, the aluminum radiator with dual 11" fans is from Entrophy Radiator.

It has 2 rows each one inch wide.

I also ordered a dual radiator fan controller that is adjustable and I can dial in the radiator temp that I want.

AFAIK the Formal radiators are the same regarding hoses... The 74's in the garage are both right sided upper/lower, maybe the small blocks are different?
