1978 NYB Preservation Project....Sort of

A lot of progress done already. The biggest delay is waiting on the new vinyl.

I hope you have better luck with SMS than I did. The leather/vinyl was ordered in Jan. 2015, several months later upholster checked and they said never received the order, another order was then placed and in Fall of 2015 came in the wrong shade. Finally in Jan 2016 the correct stuff came and in two weeks the upholster will be doing the front seat. Amen

One of the reasons why people took their car to Tijuana for a complete tucked and rolled diamond pleated interior padded with horsehair for a hundred bucks.

I've talked to them twice already......Pedro better be busy with the sewing machine or however they put the vinyl together.

Before there was FCBO, all my Formal help came from the old New Yorker Online Group. There were several guys that knew these cars inside and out. There was nothing you could throw at them that someone didn't know.
And that's where I met Mr C's friend Kip Gardner. Kip could always bail my sorry *** out when going up to Nigel's and pulling parts in the middle of winter.
Funny how none of the old Group came over here.

Not so. I came over here, as did Mr. C.

New pictures maybe later today. The roof repair is done from what I have been told.

Did you know what grain type you had? Boar, tuxedo or levant? Being a 78 maybe tuxedo. Did you check with Legendary? There is also Original Auto Interiors and Kee Auto Top. I had mine ordered and delivered in 1 week.

1978 used Levant on all 4 door hardtops except for the Salon. Mine is will be Levant too.

They should of Made Gator Grain for Formals like some Challengers and Chargers had. Talk about Class.

I'm not purist in any way, shape, or form. And saying that I will agree with you that the NYB would look very cool in Gator grain. It would look out of place though....just like my NYB does with an incorrect black vinyl top. PB3 Cadet Blue only came with blue (V1B) or white (V1W) vinyl tops.

Any idea's where and what part number for the plastic clips that hold the trim on around the windshield and rear window? Just in case he can't find any anywhere.

The clips around the windshield/ backlight are metal not plastic...not serviced by the aftermarket from what I can tell.

Dang......maybe he was showing me some other clip. I hope all of those clips are reusable.

I will have a couple of new pictures later today. The roof repairs are done.

They tough to salvage. They get rusty and the tang breaks off.

If the plastic ones are huge, they're for the rocker panel. Unobtanium of course.
Small tiny ones are for the vinyl roof trim.
Pics?. I may have the rocker panel clips. May...

Yep Stan, the one he showed me was for the vinyl trim. About a 1/2" long and 1/4" wide and oval sort of.
