1978 NYB Preservation Project....Sort of

Dang......maybe he was showing me some other clip. I hope all of those clips are reusable.

I was about to say they are reusable if they don't break when you remove the trim as Stan has already mentioned. I broke a few and found them impossible to locate. Found many that looked close but the distance from the top of the tang down to the hole for the pin in the window gutter is key. Thought I had some but they were a fraction too short and the trim couldn't grab the tang.

If the dang car was a B, E, or an A I could get the clips by the barrel.

I'm sorry, Bob, but take comfort knowing that when that car has one foot in the crusher, they'll be making air cleaner wingnuts for them.

Bob, I don't think she could have waited much longer and been this easy. Good job getting her to her in time. Try The parts flippers on EB... the ones who are still dismantling may get you some if they know not to destroy them.

This guy knows what he is doing. Hopefully he was able to save most of them.

LOL! I already have a call out to the one guy north of me.

Bob, you doing a total repaint? Or just the repaired areas? My question may have been answered earlier in the post, too lazy to look.

Sometimes I think Bob and I are the only two guys that dont hate the WeCrash guys.
I don't like flippers in general... The guy's who actually try to use the entire carcass and try to sell fairly are heroes. The vast majority I have found are more likely to cherry pick the top 20 easy to sell/easy to remove items... then they seem to want that to return their entire investment + labor time...

I am currently disliking an EB seller who seems to think everything 70s C body fits a 74 Imperial. I was surprised and excited he had pulled wire harnesses, which I want a complete set for backup/research... then I realized he most likely had harnesses off of a non Imp/NYB with crank windows and light duty Alt... I may try to reach out to him... If he comes back knowledgeable and helpful enough to sort out if he has what I want, he will be elevated to hero status. If he responds like a Know it all idiot(as many do), He will have proven my stereotype again. I often opt to just not engage with the suspected idiots... I know I pass stuff by , but it keeps my blood pressure down.

I am all for anyone, like C Body Bob, who tries to save, and tries to fully use the carcass. If the Derby boys actually only used the total loss cars... I wouldn't feel so bad... they have seemed to be in direct competition with me for cars in the past... The engine donor folks don't always give me warm and fuzzy feelings either.

One type looks like this in shape. Height is key. They break on the side when trying to remove the trim especially on my first try before knowing better.

Formal guys don't have a choice....no one is making any Formal parts. Like I've said before, I doubt if I'll ever get any interior parts (seats and door panel's) that are in better condition than what I have right now which was saved from a car 20 years ago. That's why I have to tint the windows to preserve what I have now.

Got any good pics of the clips, Bob?
You know me, I'm a Google image addict. lol

No, and I probably won't be out to see the car until next week. The work is being done in Cecil-tucky County. I'll see if if I can get a picture.
