2017 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals July 14-16

Haha.... I've got a sister-in-law that lives in Phoenix, she's telling us that when it gets to 110 it really doesn't feel that hot because it's a "dry heat." I tell her that it's dry in my oven but that doesn't mean I want to be in there.
I've been arguing that point with AZBLACKHEMI for years. lol

Big difference with humidity in desert heat and mid Atlantic heat. The desert heat didn't bother me when I was stationed at Ft. Bliss and deployed to Iraq. Then again, I was a lot younger.

I worked a straight 24 hour shift the day before Carlisle that year and took a 2 hour nap before hitting the road. I also wasn't hydrated enough and think I'm still young. I was battling heat exhaustion and was experiencing severe muscle cramps the whole dang weekend. I was fine by Sunday afternoon after resting and hydrating in the evenings.

I lived in NY for 23 years. I've now lived in Phoenix for 37. As hot as it gets here I am speaking from experience when I say I will NEVER EVER live where it's humid. Not to mention too many rainy days and of course the mosquito's! Now I know some of you are going to disagree with me but that's fine because there are too many coming to live here anyway. So as I drive my 66 New Yorker today I'll be thinking of you guys that only have a month or two left until you can finally take your classic out of winter hibernation.

Mic drop.:poke:

Chris, I have a cousin that moved from Wisconsin to Phoenix about 30 years ago. He says the same thing. He works as a CNC engineer for Total Seal.

Thats the Carlisle sun, heat index that day was 113. If You cant stand the heat stay out of Carlisle

Carlisle got warm for sure... but after buying a dollar store hoodie in late May/early June to deal with over nights in the 40s... I had a few early am hours I was glad I had windbreaker with me in July and can imagine I would like it if the rain came too. Carlisle was nice weather last year, but nothing like trying to work on FL blacktop in the sun at the height of summer.

Carlisle sucks in the rain...Ive been there too many times and have had rain. One year it rained all three days....Booooo
When the winds kick up and the storms come over the hills it can be catastrophic for the tents and cars on the fairgrounds

Yep....I stagger my way in to the spritzer several times a day at Carlisle too. LOL!

I'm going to make my own this year using melted cold water from my cooler...

What waz the last year we got hammered Dave? 2012-2013? The 300 club had their typical 24X24 canopy and we had ah GROUP HUG goin' on around the center pole and all of us still looked like Drowned Ratz after that one came thru'.

We got hammered a couple years ago but that was evening hours and I was back at the motel. I had the cars parked close to the building hoping to block the wind for fear of losing a cover.

2011 is when the picture of the blue car was taken. I dont seem to have more photographed proof of rain since then but I know it has happened

I was at the Corvettes at Carlisle when they had the big storm come through. I had just left and was on my way home. There were a few cars that got damaged.

I remember the storm a couple years ago... I watched from inside the hotel room, looking straight down at my car.

Was she covered ? Before or after the paint work?

After the paint work and no cover. The car was a little dirty from the trip, so I wouldn't have put a cover on it anyway.

Last year, I hit a really heavy, driving rain storm on the way down. It went from scalding hot to monsoon. The paint on my grille surrounds peeled from it.

There was an event and Im not sure which one, Corvettes, Fall meet, GM show where some cars had slid down the hill from the rain and mud. They had slid into one another. The wind tossed tents around the fairgrounds creating damage. That was many years ago, I had heard about it then it made the car magazines
