2017 Carlisle Chrysler Nationals July 14-16

Jeff, are planning to bring 1 or both of the twins?
I'm thinking one. Not sure which... by now I suppose you guys know just how "seat of the pants" I tend to operate. I wish I could put one in order and leave it up that way somewhere... I really hate how expensive the travel is. I already intend to put a bunch of miles on something once I reach the approximate latitude...

I will make my final decisions pretty much last minute based on the budget I can allow myself and the circumstances that pop up between now and then.

I don't want to commit %100. Butttt I am shooting for this year! Gonna bust my tail, and hopefully this will be the "unveiling" show for the Bluesmobile.

I'm gonna look into rooms and travel arangments this next week, and see if all will be good with work.

Jeff, obviously we have time lol. But if you want to convoy let me know. Blumo will be driving the trip. If something happens and it can't go, I'll hop in the truck and go. But I want the car out and about this year!

Stan, where you at?? A convoy of formals heading from FL would just be BADASS!!

I have a car trailer... You have something that should pull it good. I bet we can work something out. I plan to go up way early, but would be game for the return trip.

So if it works out, I get the trailer road ready... you let me use some of your bed space to get my "winnings" back to Florida. And you'll like this... the trailer is a steel deck "Imperial" and factory black. It may make a difference if you are hesitant to put the miles on her when the time comes.

Anyone that can give a critique of New Cumberland?
It's about a half hour away. I've stayed there at a couple of the different hotels and never had any big issues. IIRC, there was a steakhouse that was right near the hotels that was pretty good, but that was 10 years ago since I've stayed in that area. Obviously, these hotels are going to be full of folks going to Carlisle, so you will be in good company.

You can always head into Harrisburg in the evening if you are looking for a better variety of Restaurants.

If you are coming all that distance, I'm going to suggest that you come a day early or stay a day later and hit the AACA museum in Hershey while you are there.

Are you thinking road trip? It would be great to get to meet you.

A day early and I would be interested in something like that museum.

You guys stop by Stan's house, throw him and Pedro in the trunk and don't stop until you get to Carlisle.

I need to ask Rip about the auto train again. Looked at that last night too while the neighborhood artillery was going on (idiots and fireworks, love that part of Florida), About a grand round trip... and $1500, if you want a bed. I have an Uncle in Vienna I could impose myself on... but I am thinking the break even might not be worth it to me after all.

I was trying... seems it was a misguided effort. If there is anything I/we can do that is of benefit... please let us know. I am thinking of trying to get the Garlits folks to recognize us... just to keep the small gang that shows up close together there. Will may have already straightened that out for us though.

Here is the deal on the Auto Train: When I took the Auto Train with my '66 300 Parts Car, I paid for the trip with points I had accumulated with an Amtrak Rewards Master Card. The trip was totally free. Here is the info on it: Earn Free Travel with an Amtrak Guest Rewards Credit Card | Amtrak. Of course it takes a while to accumulate the points, but if you judiciously use the card for the "stuff" you buy every day, the points add up quickly. Over the last few years, I have used the points for free trips to Chrysler 300 Club, Intl. meets at Lake George, NY, Holland, MI and the aforementioned Garlits Show in Ocala, FL. Bonnie and I also took a free short trip last year from DC to Lynchburg, VA to see my brother. This Amtrak Rewards thing has been the best deal I ever had on a credit card.

And yes, please count me in for the really big Carlisle Show in July 2017.

I plan to attend this year also. If somebody has room on a trailer from Detroit area i'll bring the Monaco. I usually just attend saturday. Will be there all weekend if i can find trailer space.

I've been thinking about it for a few years now, and have had to cancel for a variety of reasons each time. Still not sure about this year either, but I looked for hotels, and it seems you have to be this far out to get a reasonable room rate at a reasonable hotel. I don't know if it would be a road trip or not either.
