318 stuck

Yes it does. Have gathered enough parts and it leaves for its winter garage this weekend. Will get a better idea then. As I said my son in law is helping a lot and he may get his idea used for the 440. Seems like what I intended has started taking different turns. Cool stuff though

I was advocating the 360 because from a budgetary standpoint, you could reuse all your 318 brackets and pulleys, your 318 timing chain cover, your 318 distributor (if you didn't want to convert to electronic ignition), and your small block bell housing trans. I'm changing my 1970 Fury convertible to a 440, because all of this stuff came with the parts car I bought. That said, it is also said, "There is no substitute for cubic inches." In addition, the 440 has 3.75" of stroke.
Maybe we'll hear that with 1 1/4" socket on the harmonic balancer bolt and a few quick jerks C and CC on a 1/2" breaker bar, the 318 comes loose anyway. If not, here are a few pictures of my 440 leaving home for a better home. Maybe a little encouragement.
