Looking for I formation on the A833's.

Here's what I'm looking to know, what are the exact differences between the B body and C body unit?

I'm really having a hankering to cut a hole in a trans hump.

Nick

A, B body only trans 69 and earlier will fit or is the same as a C body. The B&E body 70 up trans will also work, difference being the 70 up tailshaft housing has a bolt flange at the rear for E & 71 up B body mounted shifters, you will use the front mount. The later transmissions have a better lock out mechanism, keeping you out of 2 gears at once. 64 has the ball and trunnion flange at the rear(leave these for resto guys).
A body has shifter bolt flange in the middle of a shorter tailshaft FYI

@'69FuryIIIConvertible The trans on the last line on Stan's chart is the trans I have in my '68 Charger. It won't win any drag races but it is a absolute blast to drive and with 3.23/3.55 rear gear 75-80 mph mid 2k cruising is unbeatable.
Just be mindful of 4000 rpm sidesteps of the clutch it not going to last long. I can attest (after this years Mopar Nats) that it will take quite a few and survive.

The only difference between the C & B body transmissions in '64-65 with the ball & trunnion is the rear mount pad on the tail housing. The B's have a 2-5/8" bolt center and the C's have a 4" bolt center. I put a '68 B body four speed in my '63 Chrysler and everything worked out very well.

I like the 75 - 87 overdrive units myself! Such a transmission, combined with an RV cam equipped 400 or 440 and a 2:76 rear end would lope along the highway very economically, though it won't burn rubber at traffic lights.....

My basic plan is this, the below car, GT clone, mild 440, 4 gear...

I've wanted to do a 4 gear C body for a while, I just needed a good C Body roller for it...opportunity presented itself.

Stan what did you use for pedals?

Fusies have a pedal box available as a 3 spd cars.
If you use a diaphragm clutch remove the over center spring, if using stock style 3 finger clutch leave the spring in. Treat that spring with respect it will bite.
I would use diaphragm pressure plate if starting from new.

I adapted 80s era Jeep pedals to the Formal pedal bracket. A ton of fabricating on my part.
The 65-70 C-body pedals and bracket assy. weren't even a close match to Formal bracket.
And I don't care what anybody says:
1. A/B/E-BODY PEDALS WILL NOT WORK, and..
2. A/B/E humps are not adaptable.

You will have to fabricate your own Z-bar bracket that attaches to the stub frame.

I assumed I would be doing some fabrication. It know where a set of 67 pedals from a power brake car are.

I also found this locally...which sparked the initial interest...

I just sold my 426 Hemi so I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket. I'm using my proceeds to purchase the 70 Fury and that will leave me enough to buy this 4spd..

I will be following, looks like a great project. How did I miss you having a 426 Hemi? I understand selling it to finance this, but a Hemi in this ride with a 4 speed.... Makes you wonder doesn't it.
