This is only 2 cars shy of last years total car count, and we've got 125 days before the show.

I am happy to announce I have been able to secure reservations for this years location at Randall Oaks Park in West Dundee, IL for The 4th Annual Midwest C Body Car Show on June 27th, from 9:00am to dusk.

The new location this year has been received well by FCBO members as opposed to having the show at Volo again. Because of the limitations we have faced in the past events at Volo of not being able to grill or having alcoholic beverages on their premises and because we had to leave their property by 5:00pm, our new location should be a nice change. In years past, we have always been able to relocate to another location so we could continue the festivities for those who attended. However, we won't have to leave the park until dusk this year, making it an all day event, or at least until sunset, around 8:30pm.

This year’s event at Randall Oaks Park, our C Body Show will be held in the Community Shelter location of the park, which is a covered shelter house with a full kitchen, picnic table style seating, and a large charcoal grill, ready for your favorite eats. Bring your grilling skills and food, as there will be room for onsite cooking all day. The Community Shelter house also has a fire pit area and M & W washrooms.

Mark you calendar to join us for our C Body Show, and make sure you register online, including the number of guests that will be in your party, and list the type of car(s) you plan to show in the comments section on the registration link.

As always, there will be an awards and gift drawings happening sometime in the afternoon.

Looking forward to seeing past participants and all the new attendees and their C Bodies this year.

IMO, our C Body show is not only about the cars, but for the people who appreciate them as well.
For all you new comers, this isn't an 1st, 2nd, 3rd place awards type show, as past participants already know.
Whether your car is all stock, highly modified, has a $20K paint job or a few rust holes, or a driver being restored, you'll fit in just fine.

I hope the coronavirus isn't keeping anyone away from the show.
The registrations have stalled for the last 2 weeks, with 30 cars registered for our C Body Show.

Bring it. An easy rule of thumb...any large car, as long as its a Dodge, Plymouth, Chrysler or Imperial.
No Furds, Chebbys or mini vans.

As I type this, I want to stay optimistic our C Body Show won't be cancelled because of the coronavirus.
In March, I was notified the park would be closed through 4/7. Followed by another email, stating through 4/30. Nothing new to report as of today though.
There are still people signing up for the show. As of today there's 31 cars and 49 people registered, with the last registration coming in over the weekend.
Let's keep our fingers crossed something changes with this pandemic in the next 75 days.

The location that was chosen in February for this years C Body Show, as you may know is a public park. As for any decisions that will be made whether closing or keeping the park open, all hinges on what the governor determines is needed for his shelter in place order.
FWIW, I spoke with the owner at the Volo Auto Museum, and they're been closed too, and are waiting for a lift on the lock down from the governor.
As things change here un Illinois, I will keep everyone up to date as our timetable moves closer to June 27th.

One thing that has come to my mind is the plan of communal food. I think it would be smart to get some alternatives on the board, most likely being catered in individual meals. That has a cost for us all for sure, but I think bellying up to a communal setting will be problematic regardless of the official policies in place by then.
One good thing, the size of our cars has social distancing built in - poor MG or Miata clubs are never going to be allowed to meet.

Agreed. I think that it would make sense for individual participants to bring their own food/drinks/utensils. That way, not only would we be following medical recommendations, but the logistics for any last-minute drop or increase in participation will automatically be taken care of.

For the record, my original post pointed out the accommodations that are available at the shelter house, and that usage of their kitchen and/or grills would be available.

This location was chosen partially for the amenities, so that anybody could choose to grill their own food, use the stove in the shelter house kitchen, or the fridge to keep your beer cold and close by, when sitting down to have your meal.
In past years, I bought & paid to have food brought in through various vendors for our C body show attendees.
That is not how I planned it to be this year. Changing the show location, and having a less structured event was my goal, hoping to allow my fellow C Body peeps more flexibility with their own eating/drinking schedules, and more time to spend with other attendees, and to let everyone eat & drink when they want/where they want, instead of all at once.

When the Chinese virus happened, it changed everything with how people carry themselves on a daily basis, and what precautions they choose to make.
So if anybody has concerns about the eating arrangements, or social distancing, I can respect that, and and won't hold it against you if you choose to shelter in your car at the C Body Show or if you order UberEats when you get hungry.

Tim, not only do you organize great meets (I had the pleasure of attending two last years), you are always super-generous with your time and the food/drinks. I also like your plan change this time, which should work well given the virus situation. The same is true of the parking space: more distance if needed for our barges

It seems whenever I see Gov. Prickster or Lori thunderbolt Lightfoot on the telly lately, they both continue to say, "this shelter at home order is no where close to being over" and both their over reaching hands seems like they do not have a problem with dragging out this lock down for as long as they can.
Having some concern whether the stay at home order will affect on the upcoming C Body show, I emailed the park district yesterday to find out if there are other dates available for the same location past our June event date.
Their response:
Hi Tim,

In response to your question, as of now, we are still holding all the reservations for June and later. We will need to hear what the Gov. says but we're hopeful. They mentioned that group gatherings will be able to occur with max. of 50 people which you are in line with. If you wanted to go later in the summer, I have limited availability of the community shelter July 19, Aug 1 or 16 Then into Sept.

Illinois has several phase's in place currently to re-start the economy, and currently Phase 4 shows gatherings of less than 50 people are allowable....

Currently, we have 31 vehicles and 48 people registered, and I know of a few more people who haven't already registered, but plan on attending, that will put us over the 50 people threshold.
In the event there will be somebody at the park district counting people who are coming to the C Body Show, (similar to the employees who count the number of people entering Walmart or Home Depot stores) they may force us to break up the party. And that would really SUCK.

As for the other dates mentioned in the email from the park district above, I believe Sunday July 19th would be too soon, only because if the stay at home order could be extended again by the Illinois Nazi's, and it'll most likely go to the end of the following month(July30th)
I will be out of town on August 1st, which leaves Sunday August 16th as a possible date to reschedule the show.

I am open for suggestions.
Should we keep the current date, and throw the dice, or reschedule to August 16th?
I'll call Volo Auto Museum today to find out their availability as another option, and will post their response. But keep in mind, they'll have to follow the same rules for the stay at home order as the park district.

Think positive! We'll figure this out.

Hi Tim, thank you for the update! I’d suggest keeping the June date for the time being and revisiting in a month. By then we’ll have clarity. As well, I doubt that we’ll be over 50 — some folks who come from further away might not be able to make it even if they want to, which would offset the unregistered folks who want to come.
