57 Plymouth Savoy

Nice job with the windshield. I did one with a friend about 50 years ago and they are not that easy to do. The 301 poly is a nice motor and makes pretty good power. Back in the sixties you could get a lot of speed parts for them. The 318 poly I had was the 2 four barrel version. I added an Isky cam and kit, Hedman headers and a Mallory dual point distributor. It was pretty quick. Your 57 is coming out nice and it is nice to see that it is not going to be turned into a 58 and be another "Christine" clone.
I’m keeping an eye out for speed parts but they are hard to find and very expensive these days. I get the Christine comment all the time. I will never make it a clone, it’s over done and unoriginal. I love the movie and I just got the book, but I’m making this car my own thing.

It's been a minute since the last update on the 57 Plymouth. When the weather is nice I drive it as much as I can. Though not legally required, I did install some lap belts at the request of family members, and after recalling how Arnie died in Christine. I installed a fuel sender signal converter to make it read accurately with the fuel gauge. The gas tank likes to leak and weep gas, but have been too cheap to buy a new tank. Other than that, it has been an absolute dream to drive, I've taken it to the Turlock Swap Meet a few times and to the annual pig roast at Big M Auto Wrecking. I still cannot believe someone sent this car to the junkyard, it is just so much fun to drive. The car really could use new door and window seals to keep the rain out, those will come later.

If the tank isn't rusted just replace the seals, there is an o ring for the filler neck into the tank and a gasket for the sending unit and an asphaltic paper on top of the tank My hat is off to you for bringing it back to the road where it belongs. It never should have been thrown away. Keep the updates coming! Oh yeah and if you do pull the filler neck make sure you keep the vented part pointed upward
