My very last resort will be a restoration shop . I will ask them to repair the rust and primer the car. I do have my own epoxy primer. Then I will have my dad paint it
These things take time and patience. When I see a part for my car on ebay I put it on my watch list. It never hurts to have spare parts for your forwardlook. There is still more to on this car
These projects take time and patience. I want the car done right the 1st time. It was repainted once but it was not a very good job . I do not know who painted the car last but the trimming was never removed
Here is more progress my dad primered my late Uncles corvette and its now painted yellow as soon as that is finished then more work will be done on the '61
Oh yes it does I have not done much on it right now.I am letting my dad finish the vette 1st then the '61 is next. I just purchased trunk panel extensions for my '61. I also removed the trimming from the trunk and put it in storage
I got a pair of trunk panel extension s for the car off ebay. I also got my hood bumpers , next is the door w/s and correct brake pedal, then hood pad clips and door bumpers.
You can remove and buff the sill plates as new if you have a grinder that you can mount a 7 or eight inch buffing wheel to. Use the green stick first followed by the red rouge stick. Go slowly and do not overheat the aluminum until it comes to a brilliant luster. Wipe clean with lacquer thinner and wax. I recommend a few coats of clear coat ( or water based varethane ) on the steering wheel or the paint may just rub off over time. Mine's been on five years with no signs of wear and the shine is brilliant. I used the water base sprayed on with a mini sprayer that used a compressed gas canister that attaches to the mixing jar with the spray head. Their great for small jobs and will acommodate any kind of paint, mixed or not. Love the sinister look of your car and the futuristic body curves.
