Hey all,
I want to convert my column, cable shifted, 65 Newport to a later 727. I see there is a conversion cable made to do this but reviews are mixed. Can I swap in a later steering column say from a 66 so I can use the linkage to shift it ? Are 2 door and 4 door columns the same ? I'd like to keep things looking "not hacked up" in the interior. But doing some mods to a 66 column or my floor where it goes through is not an issue
Is there a better solution ?
( The goal is to end up either with a gear vendors overdrive or some other version of an overdrive. I am running an e headed 496 with 3:55 gears and 70 mph down the interstate is buzzing a little higher than I would like)
