While trying to be sensitive that hte seller has some significant health issues, it sure would've been a travesty if he had completed this car and painted it plum crazy purple.
I cannot fathom the taste some people have.

Considering it started out at $165,000, this new price is an absolute steal (not).

Would be nice to have deep pockets and restore it correctly.
We went and bought lottery tickets today.
A coincidence, though, the Ghia was not the reason.

I have no idea where you'd take a car like this to have it restored, so that would be an obstacle for me if we win.
But after that's sorted out, I think I'd visit the seller with $25k in a briefcase, show it to them, and make it very clear that if it wasn't enough $$$, upon leaving the premises I would not be returning.
AKA take it or leave it.

But I don't think he nor I need to worry about that scenario.

He is also selling a '62 LeBaron without much success, asking prices are too steep. $25K is probably generous considering the condition of this limousine, restoration would be well north of $100K. Good luck with the ticket entries.

I would appreciate the opportunity to decode the VIN and Fender Tags of this rare car--to test and confirm my decoder-under construction. N/C, ever. I see you also have a '62 Imperial and I would love to decode that car's tags, also. Full VIN's not required if concerned--just the first four characters of the VIN. Please post or PM to me. Happy New Year in any case.

Given the condition of this car two things are apparent. 1. It needs EVERYTHING. 2. The decimal in the asking price needs to move one to the left.

Restoration of this car would be a whole lot closer to $200k than $100.

Probably more, depends on who does it and where. Finch Restorations is a local company I'd trust to do it right, but wouldn't get much change out of a 1/4 of a million dollars.

That thing freaks me out on two points:

Condition ...way down on the scale

Price ....way too high on any scale

The diecast parts on the dash just need a little cleaning with a toothbrush...right?
Just because they were covered in salt spray for 40 years is not a problem, is it?

The light blue-on-light blue must have been stunning when new... the fact that this guy wanted to do it Plum Crazy shows that his head isn't in the right place for a car like this; he needs a beater Duster that he can fix-up and use to re-live his teenage glory days, not one of the most exclusive luxury cars in the world.

That having been said, what would the market be like for this car, even fully restored? Factory limos of any make don't seem to command big money because they're basically sedans on steroids, and we know that the "too many doors" crowd hates anything with rear legroom and easy entry. So you'd have the biggest version of a luxury sedan. To be honest I'm surprised this guy has the nerve to ask more than about $10k for the Imp in its current state.
