66 trade deal

To me the Newport looks fairly solid. If that is true I would do the deal. As said before unless you have the skills to do the required work on the Charger you'll be spending lots of money.

But the way welcome from just south of you.

Hey thanks! Yes when it comes to metal fab I have zero skills. Engines I can do all day but the 66 is very solid everywhere! And venango cty can't be too far from me then just up 89 haha

good morning and thanks for the add! I'm looking at possibly doing a trade deal tomorrow. I have a 74 charger that needs some work to be long distance road worthy ( floor pans are toast, k member needs replaced, rear crank seal installed incorrectly) and a person wants to trade me a 66 Newport. It's all original (from what I can see) with 25k miles. I'm wondering if the deal is right for both sides? I put some time and $$$ into my 74 but I'm unsure if the deal is fair for both sides. Looking for opinions. Hopefully the photos upload for references!View attachment 389587

I see the '66 has Pennsylvania tags on it. Has it been a Pennsylvania car its whole life (if the Certicard is still in its slot on the front radiator support, it will have the name and address of the original owner)? Regardless, you need to go under it with a microscope looking for rust - especially in the front stub frame, floors, trunk floor and rear frame rails. If you find rust and rot in those places, the '66 is gonna be a bigger nightmare than your Charger. At least with the Charger, you can get replacement panels, floors, etc. There is NOTHING like that available for the Newport.

When I looked underneath I didn't see anything in the way of rot/rust. It was originally from Colorado not sure which area up until 6 years ago

Generally a good orientation, provided you don't think about it again until 23hrs:58minutes later. Look at the front of the '66 Chrysler sales brochure. FWIW

One thing I thought was cool, when we opened up the trunk i saw a build sheet! Always an awesome find imo

Best of luck with your decision, keep us posted. If you do the deal, we will like more pic's.

Rick's that's a tough question. My heart is always with the third gen chargers. I will someday own a 71. I lovey 74 but when I look at it, I see and remember how much freaking work time and money I have to put into it still. That's when my heart sinks. When I see the 66 it's not really a car I've always dreamed about owning, but I see I can turn the key, put my wife and son in and not worry about it being a risk to strand me on the side of the road. Those are the things keeping me awake at night with the decision haha

The wife and kid will love cruising in the Newport. Go for it. That Charger will come along in due time. Unless the C body converts you, like they have for many of us here.

well its a good looking charger but do you have the time and money to put in to put it the way you want it . if the 66 newport is ready to go well you will be cruisin in style . look in the mirror and ask the ?

When you get the Newport see if the guy has the original wheels and wheel covers so that you can get rid of that hideous aftermarket crap.

I just called him back and I was going to tell him that's gotta be part of the deal. What's on there now is UGLY!

Rick's time and money yes, but I do not want to put more of either into it. But forgot if I stated before, my true dream car is a 71 charger rt. 74 SE isn't specially my dream car but I love land yachts none the less

you have a hard thinking to do . plus i have that Italian disease (funds are low )

Also, where could I find a dash in the blue color? Paint as you can see on the code is DD1 but unsure what the interior blue would be...
