Well i have another problem. Had great heat since buying the car, all the sudden last week i have no heat.
I can hear tbe flap open and close, as well as a click when i depress the hi defrost button.. so... I'm guessing that the vacuum system is working as it should. I have some heat coming out of the vents, but no blower motor.. so its not the heater core.
I found a new blower motor resistor and installed it, still nothing .
About the only thing left that i can think of is the auto temperature relay.

Just looking for some advice as its getting to be a frigid wasteland here in Chicago. Need to get this fixed as i drive it every day..

Oh.. forgot to mention that I akso replaced the blower motor too.. so it's not that..

Auto temp relay? In a 68 Fury?
Does your heater controls have a sliding temperature lever?

Is your cars engine warming up to proper temp. As in the thermostat is not stuck open?
Engine warms up fine, thernostat opens and closrs correctly. I never go past 190 temp wise except for really hot summer days, then it might top off at 200.

OK. I just needed to be sure. AutoTemp I in a 68 Fury is very rare.
Haha, i hear that, but yes it has one. I can see it. I do have access to a replacement part, but don't want to plunk out $90 for it if i don't need it.
Also forgot to mention that i smelled burning wiring a few weeks ago, but cant find any bad wiring anywhere, so all i can guess is that the auto temp sensor fried before anything else.
Already checked and replaced fuses as well. Fuse was fine, but i replaced it anyway for good measure.

Is there a resistor on the blower. Check wiring & contacts. Clean contacts. Make sure ground is good & clean

No resistor on the blower. Just pos/neg. Wiring is all new and clean.
It worked fine before,.
Also heard that theres a vacuum switch behind the push button thinger that turns the blower motor on and off.. going to tear the dash apart tomorrow and see what the deal is. I need to lubricate the push buttons anyway as they stick real bad...

Can you tell if the control valve on the heater hose is opening and closing?

Thats another thing, but yes, i have no idea if it is or not. Kind of hard to check one of those. I may end up replacing it if nothing else works..
Like i said earlier, i have heat coming out of the vents, just no blowing air. So i wouldn't think that would be it.
With the burning wiring smell, I'm leaning towards the auto temp relay.
