'69 Fury III Convertible Build Thread- Project IVY

You think that was a tale of woe? I was thinking it was inspiration to get a snow blower ..... and fate steeped up and kept the snow away. I like to think positive!!!

I'd rather a thousand Cubans in my neighborhood than one Mexican....
They've earned my respect more than any other immigrant group.

Got a fair amount actually done today, especially considering I was working alone.

Started by cleaning up the front section of the drivers foot well area

Then I gave everything a coat of DOM 16 (Better than POR 15 IMHO (cheaper, and a Canadian brand too)). Just did the stuff I won't be able to get to when I put the new panel in.

Got some stuff off and ready to go to scrap soon as I cut a few sections out of them. Having rust free replacements is great!

Got the bad hood and bad fender off to find some accident damage. this explains why I have one red Steel wheel and why this fender (red after I got it off and looked at the backside) was rotted more than the other (the original, found the F8 hidding behind it)

The above inner fender up close has a fair amount of damage that has been beat out.

Got the good fender off too.

Clear to see why I had rust bubbles

End of another day

I feel for you man. I did the same stuff in MI, in the wonderfull snow. Really sucks when the wrech slips, and you smack your hand on something. Really feel it then! Great progress on the car.

Is the drivers door original to the car? Looks like it was smacked pretty hard around there.

I remember those days ..when I was 17 and doing what you are, in the snow and the cold. Not a chance today

Always had at least a roof over the head, don't know if I ever tackled a restoration without a garage. Getting in the age for a lift now already.

This pic was taken in dirty Europe I guess.

Probably a good thing I'm stubborn (or atleast that's what I've been told my whole life) I'm sure a lot of people would have backed down from this car and ran the other way once they got into what I have but for me it's just a challenge with a nice reward at the end.
